  • I Think About Names for My Future Kids

I'm not totally sold on the idea of getting married and having kids. But I imagine there will be a time for those things, and I, in turn, imagine as to what it would be like. Of course, life doesn't always work out to meet your "ideally"s, but in my perfect situation, I'd have one boy and one girl. Two kids would be enough for me, thank you very much.

As for the names, I'd want them to share my initials, as "lame" as that might seem to some of you. For boys, I really like John. Simple, biblical, and I've never met a John I haven't liked. For girls, probably my forerunner is Julia. A very pretty name that goes well with my Italian surname, and can even be shortened to Jules if she and I are so inclined.

I definitely don't want anything too crazy, though. No names of cities. No Greek mythological figures. And no really white-sounding names that would make it sound like my kids go to the country club twice a week. Brent and Madison, I'm sorry, you're just not going to make the cut.

Do you think about what your going to name your future kids?

For a boy, I like Luke, and for a girl, I like Ella.
    No clue why :]

when i was younger, i used to think about it all the time and even still now, i do think about names for my future kids even though i don't plan to them for a while.

  • soniiuh@xanga

I think about this, too! Lol.
    Boy: VERN (or Jay)
    Girl: VERA  (or Yuri)
I have a strange infatuation with the name Vern. xD

Has crossed my mind... but unlike you, I'm all for naming my offspring after Greek myth... because I happen to love that genre! So my top picks are: Jason, and Cassandra (and/or Pandora, I'm undecided.) I love those names - I love the stories tied to them (though they're sad.) Nice thing to muse over...

Male: Dorian Túrin. (Edward and/or Michael are also options.)
Female: Lúthien Sophia. (I am also partial to Elen.)

That's funny about Brent and Madison. You've got brass ones for saying that here, by the way. I've wanted to post about trendy names and names that "try too hard", but Momaroo is hardcore. They'll rip me to shreds.

WE have many ideas concerning names. We are french, myself from a celtic part and my men from a germanic part of the country. We have picked up some breton names, and some other name that sound geologic (because it's my men's work !).

I haven't thought of any boys' names, but I think if I had a daughter, her name would be Zoe Sophia.  (because Zoe means life and Sophia means wisdom)  I had another cool girls' name picked out, but I have since forgotten what it was.  I know it was something Celtic.

I love the name Julianne, like the name of the professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars... and Jules could be a nickname as well!  For boys, I like the name Tyler, but my cousin's kid already has that name so I think we'll have to pick a different one.  I also at least want a boy and girl!

  • openmindedgirlk@xanga

Yea I do sometimes. But becareful who you tell it too you don't want someone to use it. Like on Seinfeld when George told someone what he wanted to name his son and somebody else used that name. I don't watch the show just saw that one.

  • rough_souls@xanga

haha i definitely think of this all the time. my boyfriend and i have a joke going that we're going to get married and have twin boys and then a girl, and name them levi, jaden and emmeline. hooray imaginationnn

  • rough_souls@xanga

@Passionflwr86@xanga - i hear 'pandora' i immediately think of the online radio website... maybe not a good thing in a technological age for your kid to share a name with a popular website (even though it's a good one). i do like cassandra thoughh

  • at_eex3@xanga

Aw, that's cute of you. I want to have a boy, at least first. So, he'd be the 'big brother' and named after his daddy. If i have a girl, i always imagined naming her Lisa-marie, Mihaela, or Madeline.

  • idontlikeyouanymore143@xanga

for a girl i like Kalleigh Jane (just because)
for a boy i like james edward (after my uncle)

  • rosesXlighters@xanga

Me and my friends always talk about this all the time! Its one of our weekly conversations lol. I really like Poppy or Alice for a girl and Nathan or Oliver for a boy :)

  • megaaatron@xanga

I think about that all the time. I like John and Julia, nice and classic. =)
Every name I think of a name gets ruined by something, like I love the name Steven, but it's my exbf's name and I can't use that without seeming crazy. haha. I also liked the name Carly, but now it's a tv show. I want something original, but not too out there.

That's pretty cool to see a guy thinks about this too. I always think guys are completely dreading having kids until they hold their own.

  • NadoAngel@xanga

I know too many Johns lol! But I love the name Julia! And the nickname Jules! Very pretty!

For a boy I like Vail. I used to like Vail Levi, but then I found out that was my fiance's brother's middle name and it kinda turned me off (since I really dont like him) and I havent found anything in replace of Levi. But I used to go to school with a kid named Vail. He was my first crush! lol! He was a cutie and real sweet. Havent seen him for over 8 years but his name has stuck with me and I've always thought that if I had a boy (which I probably will since EVERYONE on my fiance's side of the family has boys!) I wanted to name him that!

For a girl I like Scarlet LeAnn. I just think that Scarlet is a beautiful name.

And if I just so happen to have two girls I would want to name the second one Sarena KayAnn.

  • yukarimayhem@xanga

my boyfriend and i have already thought about it
he's japanese so we were thinking
    boy: kai (we both agreed!!)
girl: yumi, (his idea) although i like kumiko, kyoko, and names with a 'k' sound in them :)

  • PoetMcChick@xanga

I named my daughter Lena Sophia (pronounced Layna).
I've been thinking Cheyenne Taylor or Abrielle.

  • shes_lump@xanga

A  boy... Edmund, John, Peter, or Gregory
A girl... Lucy, Susan, Violet, or Isabelle.

  • RaraAvis24@xanga

I like Isaiah Anthony for a boy and for a girl i like Alexandra Renee

  • Agent_Spanky@xanga

I think about these things all the time. I, too, want a boy and a girl. Hopefully the boy will be first. haha (:

  • fivepointfourtwo@xanga

If I have a boy, I always wanted to name him Jason... but I don't think that's possible anymore. Cause I ended up dating a Jason; imagine if my future husband finds out I named our son after my first love. AWKWARDDD. But I always loved that nameee, mostly cause of the Greek myths (: Oh and for a girl, I want to name her Vivienne, short Vivi OR Jolie, short Jojo (:

  • StylishMudd@xanga

my name is Julia! hahaha =] but yes, john is a good boys name as well :D

  • PerkyPunk8064@xanga

I LOVE the name "Erin" spelled "Erynne". It's pretty much my favorite girls' name. :)

I don't want to do any over-creative, trying-too-hard names. . . That's as "creative" as it's going to get, and it's an Irish name. I've always loved the names for boys "Ben" and "Caleb". Which is kinda awkward because I have a crush on a guy named Ben and I used to like a guy named Caleb. . . Awkward. . .
