  • Questions about birth control pills!

I recently got put on the birth control pill Loestrine24Fe. The doctor warned me about nausea but I didn't think it would be this bad. If anyone knows of anything that might help to get rid of it, even if it is just a fraction lower than it is now, please give me some tips...

And if you know of any other good cheaper birth-control pills, could you please tell me about them?? I would really appreciate it. It's vital to, well, never mind. I won't get into that.

Any information that can be given is highly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure how much yours is but I've been on YAZ for 2+ years and I love it! It makes my cramps 9284234 times easier to deal with before. I had such horrible cramps I couldn't bare them. Also, it got rid of my acne completely minus the random once in a blue moon haha. But all in all, I love it! No nausea for me other than when I'm actually sick. Haven't seen any actual side effects that I'm aware of due to my birth control!

I'm on Depo Provera and I've never had nausea or anything.

They say you're not supposed to use it for more than 3 or 4 years or you risk never regaining fertility or something so I need to switch to something else soon.. I did notice that I have shit for a libido though. It sucks because I just got married and I was hoping I'd be more into it than I am. ]:

If I could find something else that was reliable without me having to remember to take it every day or worry about it, I'd be happy. P:

I was on ortho tri c lo. I like it, I didnt have any effects, well I gained alittle weight. It cost me $40.
but they came out with an off brand for it, and its only $10, it works just as well.

From what 2 doctors told us, Loestrine FE is the one of the lowest hormone wise pills out there.

Daughter did great with it first 8 months then went to being irregular again. Changed her to Nortrel and it helped for about 3 months then right back but not even two weeks between now. With her age Dr. nor gyno feels comfortable putting her on anything stronger.

If wasn't for all the pain (ovarian cysts) and cramping she was having before, wouldn't let her take any.

Didn't have any side affects with the Loestrine FE. With Nortrel has pained 10 pounds and had acne breakouts.

You can try a lower dosage birth control. I was on Loestrin for awhile before I switched to another bc because I was not producing enough estrogen. Also, it make take some time for your body to adjust to it. It was a few months when I was on Loestrin (I was on it a little over a year) before my stomach would stop hurting. Just talk to your gyno about it!

I used to shell out $40 a month for Yasmin and it made me sick to my stomach, regardless of when I took the pill. It was a nightmare when I missed one and had to double up the next day because vomiting was inevitable. I would take it after dinner and eventually right before I went to sleep but to no avail. I then switched to MicroGestin, a generic (A LOT cheaper) and it's worked liked a charm.

I'm on Loestrin too, but I've never experienced nausea.

My advice would be to take it with food.. sometimes I get nauseous on other meds if I take them on an empty stomach :P

yasmin worked for me, until i had some health issues. completely unrelated to the bc though.

worked for 3 yrs though :)

The birth control pill. Yaz,  has been linked to life-threatening side effects such as strokes, blood clots,  and heart attacks. Since 2004, at least 50 deaths have been reported in women taking Yaz and contraceptives made with similar ingredients.
