  • Last beach trip of the Summer...

We told the kids we'd make it to the beach once more before Summer was over and we did!

Instead of Cocoa, we hap-hazardly made our way to Playalinda instead. It proved to be a "right" turn, with cleaner beaches and far less people...and a "Nature Drive", too! (Camera was in the truck of the car for that portion.)

Megan loved it. I sat in the surf with her and she swirled her hands through the liquidy-sand. She played with large shells and her Little People on the blanket. At one point I brought a half-full bucket of water up to the blanket for her and let her play in it until she dumped it.

The boys "body surfed" for hours on end. C met a little girl named Robin and M went off with her older, "blossoming" 11 year old sister. LOL.

I tried my hand at playing in the waves, but the ocean pushed me down, skinned my knee and stole my sunglasses!  Not cool.

M, age 7, the little heart breaker...

I must say that they did very well about not going too far into the water and not needing constant supervision from us. (I did manage to read at least a dozen pages of 'Perfect Match' while Megan played on the blanket, Tim went to the bathroom and the boys built some sand castles...a little too close to the water to last too long, but whatev. They had fun.)

C, 8 years, mugging...and showing just how badly this week's hair cuts are needed... Oy.

In a word? Toning. That is the next step. But? I made it out in a bikini! Not quite 9 months after having a baby! For not being a celebrity with a team of personal trainers and chef? I'm happy with it!

Is there anything sweeter than a baby sleeping? Err...sweeter than a baby sleeping on the beach? I think not. And Daddy makes an excellent umbrella. (We were banking on going to Cocoa; where they rent umbrellas...)

The catch of the day! C and I worked together to catch a crab! And a pretty decently sized one at that! (About the size of my hand.) He told everyone he came across. He even let it go back into the water without complaint when we were done showing it off.

We ended the day with sandwiches for the ride back...donating two slices of bread to the raccoon sniffing at the garbage bins (It was 7:30pm...the beach closes at 8pm.) and swinging through the nature drive where we saw a bunch of birds, aligators and a snake.

I do believe we have discovered a new beach of choice.  It was an awesome way to wrap up the Summer!
