Stop! It's Mommy Time!
by Mama Bee
As a full time mother of three, it is very rare that I get a moment to myself. I'm lucky if I can shower for 5 minutes without one of my kids coming in to "see what I'm doing." If I'm using the bathroom, even though there are 3 others in the house, I get my door knocked on and swiftly pushed open. I'm asked the same question "What are you doing?"
I am with my kids all. day. every. day.
And as their mother I love them unconditionally but there are still days that I want to lock the door and hide. I need my me time and in all honesty, it makes me a better mother for my babies. It's like hitting my reset button.
Last weekend my husband went camping with my daddy and brother in law. They were gone all weekend and I had a fun girls weekend with my daughter and 2 cousins. We did crazy things like coloring our hair purple, eating cake for dinner and watching scary movies that kept us up all night. It still was a weekend with taking care of the baby though so not too much of a brake.
Tomorrow is my Mommy-time. What will I be doing? I will be going to get pampered all weekend. I will sleep until noon if I want to. I will go to bed at seven, if I want to. I will take a bath in peace and quiet and get this, I will pee with my door open! Wait, I don't know if my best friend will like that, but she will deal. I will eat my food while it's still hot. I will drink a bottle of wine if I feel like it. I will read my book without being bothered. I will jump on the bed and the Hyatt will be okay with that. I won't worry about broken necks, telling someone to "chew with your mouth closed" and I don't plan on giving the mommy-means-business look to anyone for 2 whole days. I plan on taking time to do my make-up and hair while wearing my new dress to the martini bar. I plan on being kid-less for 2 days and I will bask in every second of it.
While missing my babies and husband, of course.
This is coming at a great time since in a few weeks hubby will be taking off to New York for business for a week while I stay at home and tend to our children. They also start school in less than two weeks so next week, I'll be running around like a crazy lady trying to get everything done.
My husband surprised me Monday with a card saying "MOMMY-TIME" and telling me all of the things he has planned for me this weekend with my Best Friend. He got her to take off of work early just for me! SA-WEET! I can't wait. I need a break and I am so excited to just get away and sleep.
That's when you know you're a mommy. You get time away and all you can think about it all the sleep you can get!
Do you have mommy-time? Do you find that when you have time to yourself you're able to handle things better?

Ooooooh SO jealous right now.
My "mommy time" consists of an hour here and there when my hubby watches the kids so I can go grocery shopping. Hey, at least it's ME time!
OH man, I'm going to have to email this to my husband to give him some ideas. I could sure use some mommy-time like that!
Your husband rocks!
I do get some Me time now and then- I didn't for months cause my lil' nursling was on my boob every 2 hours of the day lol. But now I get longer breaks from him so I get to get my nails done or a pedi. And I'm starting a part time job in a couple weeks- THAT will be my "me time" LOL
Oh and school starts back up soon- so my older 3 will be back in school, and 3 days a week for a few hours my 3 year old will be in preschool... so there will be times when I am home with only ONE kid- whoa! lol
@averyswife@xanga - That is exactly what my "mommy time" is too. :) Shopping kid-free is a huge luxury to me!
