Not really... physically everything is closer in a big city. One thing I love about new York and other big cities is you never have to walk more than 5 blocks to get the necessities.

Id have to say no, Ive lived in small towns as well as bigger cities and I really dont see the difference. I have to agree with MangoWOW that living in a bigger city does make it a bit easier since everything is within walking distance.

We have always lived in the burbs and it has its advantages but my son has always been happier in the big cities we have visited.  Unlike most with Autism, he is tends to be understimulated rather than over.  So the big cities give him plenty to look at and an endless list of places to visit.  The walking was great exercise and helped him sleep better at night.  Contrary to what many people think, some big cities have parks every few blocks so there is open and green space for kids to play.

No it's not harder. I live in New York City and one of the greatest things about living here is that there are so many different schools to chose from, different activities you can place your child in and endless things to do and places to visit. There are a lot of social programs for single parents like myself and like others before me said everything is walking distance and public transportation is every where so you don't need a cab or a car!

No.  I think things are closer and there is more to do.  When you're a family with one car, that's kind of important. :)

probably not . but then again , i`m not a mom , but i do know that since i grew up in a small town , i DEFINITELY enjoyed having a whole place outside to play with my sister and everything , and there was more room . idk about the city :\

I don't think it matters. The city could be harder depending on where you live, but if you live out in the country and have to drive an hour to the nearest store..that can be pretty difficult.

I wish I lived in the city.. but I imagine I wouldn't be able to find a 4 bedroom downtown.

raising children is hard. i'm not a mom though, but the city can provide a lot of insight and perspective? then again , there's always the ups & the downs

    It's easier, not harder.

There are pros and cons to both, (having lived in both large cities and rural areas).   I live in a rural area on the outskirts of a large town and an hours drive away from a medium sized city and I feel this is the best of both worlds.  We live in an area where people don't always lock their doors and kids can play safely in the neighbourhood, but only a ten minute drive will bring you into town for dinner, movies, shopping, groups and clubs, etc...  I love this more relaxed pace of life!

I've been both in the city and the country. Denver and San Antonio were great for the buses and having stores close. There were also neighbors close comradeship. In the country, nature was close; life was peaceful, and there were no 'bad' neighbors.

Downsides: city was noisy with sirens and crime and rudeness. The farm was lonely! Small towns offer little in entertainment beyond bars or cow chip throwing contests.

The best place really depends on the individual.

It all depends on what you make of it. There are positives and negatives to living in the city and living in the suburbs, just like everything else. Make the most of where you are, what you see and what you have available to you. That's the key. Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you get.
