My mother would actually be
pissed to bare the title, but too bad!
I don't get it! I can pour a whole bottle of fabric softener after twice the needed amount of laundry detergent and my clothes still just smell
"okay". Wth!? My mom would do laundry and I'd smell the pile of fresh folded clothes on my bed for hours and the aroma took forever to fade. For some reason it was always perfect.
I tried to compare this to my father who loves to bake and cook and tries to follow my grandmother's recipe on a specific dish. And he says that every time he tries to make the dish, it's never right,
"it's never like hers". But cooking is different. This is just f*&@!ing laundry!
Do you try to mimic a parent and fail?
Or are you JUST like them and hate it?

I have the same problem with my laundry, too! I demand answers! lol!
Use dryer sheets instead, fabric softener is harder on your clothes anyway. I have the same problem with cooking, it just never turns out like my mom's or grandma's.
@Sugarling@xanga - LOL! Mind-boggling. My mom rolls her eyes when I try to explain.
@neverdie373@xanga - I used dryer sheets when I lived with my parents - still not the same lol. But I didnt know the liquid isnt good for the clothes! Thanks.
I've noticed that food just tastes better when someone else has cooked it, period. Maybe laundry is the same way... Maybe it just smells better because someone else did it? LOL.
my mum is the best at everything.
she's just boss, for real.
@filtered_sunlight - Lol, I take it you don't like to cook? Maybe you are right. But with that said, my Dad does the laundry and it's fine... my sister, my friends do their laundry... none of the clothes smell quite as fragrant. I must know her secret!
@BlackJackBebe@xanga - LOL! Awh... that's sweet. Yea... gotta love mom.
@Complexitii@xanga - Eh, it depends. The mood strikes on occasion and I love it, but most of the time I cook only out of neccessity. LOL. Tell us when you find out, will you?
@filtered_sunlight - I hate cooking, myself and also only do it because I have to. And when mom stops being a brat and gives up the secret, I'll let you know.
use dryer sheets! they make your clothes smell delicious. when i do laundry at my boyfriends he always puts three in and my sheets smell delicious for weeks.
I agree. Fragrant dryer sheets with added fabric softener are the answer. Use more than directed and your clothes smell so fresh! Also, try using a detergent with a nice scent with added color safe bleach. Then your clothes will look as good as new and smell like you rolled in a bed of roses!
Next time watch them and see what they do differently or put in that is different. Sometimes, there is a trick we are missing. I'm sure they would share their secrets with you if you ask.
I love doing laundry, but don't know how to get rid of stains out of white socks or t-shirts. My mother in-law knows how. I am a better cook than my mother in-law, but my mom is a better cook than I and mother in-law.
hehe. I am the laundry guru in my house. I do all the laundry for the 6 of us, and I always get the towels so silky soft and smelling great. My brother fails at laundry. He cant even turn the machine on without causing a nuclear explosion.
as growing up, my mom was homemaking guru. I can't be able to mimic the half of hers. Especially her many many healthy recipes. Big bows to my mom (_ _) ( - - )
less clothing in the washer...then the water can get through and wash nicely. And use a second rinse on the things that are a bit dirtier.....that is what I was taught. It seems to work for me.
@DarkGlitt3r@xanga - WOW @ 6 of you. Lol - well Im envious of your talent.
@crazysogul@xanga - Hmm I'll try this! Makes sense. Thanks!
@crazysogul@xanga - Awh! Yea... my parents shared the house duties since my dad like cooking and we "women-folk" hate it. LOL.
@momtokaynjay29@xanga - Yea I guess we all have things we're better at. ;(
@Suesbooks - She'll probably stop... look at me... and ask me "why the hell didn't you do this for me [First] [Middle Name] [Lastname]!?"
@xXx__Nicole__xXx@xanga - LOL @ a bed of roses. Thanks Nicole... I'll try this as well.
@zoedark@xanga - 3 eh? I'll give this a shot.
