Wow, that had to be REALLY HOT!  That is just nuts.  Common sense people.  Always test it first. 
I haven't had that happen (breastfeed), but the times we have supplemented, I've always used room temperature water to mix the formula (or room temperature breastmilk bag).  I always rather it be a lil' cooler than too warm and my babies have never complained. 

Lucky it was the baby's cheek and not her throat.  We use hot tap water to warm our bottles when we use them, so no danger of overheating here.

That is why I used room temp. water and powder formula after I had to stop breastfeeding. My daughter never complained. I would never use a micro to heat a bottle!!

I've never had this problem either. I heated my daughters bottle for the first month or 2 and then it was all room temperature. She's been with baby sitters a few times and the only thing that bugged me was her god fathers gf was giving her water instead of the formula with one of her bottles. 

@averyswife@xanga - Yeah, this story does sound a little ridiculous. I would have never been brought to the hospital for that. Actually, I was only ever sent to the hospital from school. Then again, my cousins and I all got knocked around as kids...by each other...and we were all fine.
I kind of think some parents are turning their kids into little sissies. I work in the babysitting/daycare part of the gym once in a while. Some of the little boys are straight up tanks while others just cry. Blame the parenting.
I guess it depends on how old the child was at the time of the burn. But still. The hospital? Call the pediatrician in the morning.
