With the economy hurting so badly now, everyone is strapped for cash. What are we supposed to do for fun with kids out of school for 3 months?!? Well, we LETTERBOX.
Here are our letterboxing supplies
This Treasure Hunt took us to Downtown Texarkana at the state line. It is a letter box Honoring Scott Joplin (1868-1917), the great American ragtime composer. He spent his childhood in my hometown of Texarkana, growing up on both sides of the state line. Near the corner of W. 3rd and Main Streets in Texarkana, Texas is a large mural honoring the life and music of Scott Joplin.

The kids searched feverishly for this one.

until....
Xan-Man Found it! (He's very competitive)
The Girls Were Sad ({Princess K} moved on .
And Here is what was in the box. Isn't that a great stamp? Pretty Cool!
It is a great way to spend time with the kids, and learn something (teamwork).
Thanks for sharing our treasure hunt with us.. I hope you enjoyed my uncoolness. I'm a dork.. It's ok.

That's so cool.....I might try that when my son is a little bit older!
This looks like a lot of fun. After reading all the information on how to get started. My husband and I are goingto start tomorrow with are 5 yr old son. He loves to hike around the rivier here, and he has been dieing to use his compass he got for his birthday.
Also I will be able to tie this in with some of his home schooling materials. After some searching on were some of these boxes are located, my family has walked by serveral of them serval times over and never knew such a fun adventure was near.
So tomorrow we are off to buy the stuff to get started and going to find all the ones local to us that we can. We shouldbe busy for awhile.
