10 Ways to Keep the Kids Entertained this Summer
1. Going to the beach/pool/turning on the sprinkler in the yard. Any form of water is appreciated (unless you're in a cold climate of course). Here's an awesome and affordable inflatable pool from Amazon for the whole family to cool off in.
2. Day/Sleepaway Camp! (Remember Disney's Bug Juice?) Kids will be kids and there's no better way for them to let loose than through some organized amusement.
3. Scrapbooking kits. Construction paper. Markers. Glue. Glitter. Personal photos. The works! (Just make sure to place a sheet under any kiddie project. Trust us, that glitter stays there)
4. Theme parks - Six Flags, Sesame Place, Hershey Park, Disney World, Universal Studios, Dorney Park, Busch Gardens, and so many more.
5. Scavenger Hunts. Conjure up something exciting --everyone loves a riveting treasure hunt!
6. Participate in a summer reading contest! (We know, we know --we hear the kids groaning. However, many public libraries host these and usually offer a cool prize that will have your kids racing to those bookshelves!)
7. Playing a game of catch at the park as a family.
8. Picnics (even if it's just on your terrace or in your apartment). The Picnic Time Windsor Set is so perfect for this special summer occasion. Sometimes, there are even concerts at the park. Many towns and cities sponsor these so why not get your kids caught up on the classics while enjoying a homemade picnic!
9. It's not about how much money you spend or where you go. It's all about IMAGINATION. Melt smores in the microwave. Whip out the flashlights. Tell spooky ghost stores. Place glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling. Your kids will love it and you'll have a merry ol' time!
9. Movies and baby boomer concerts in the park. Many towns and cities sponsor these so why not get your kids caught up on the classics!
10. Top Chep time! This summer is the perfect time to start educating kids on eating healthy by inspiring them to try out and participate in preparing nutritional snacks and meals. This is actually even a list of 11. There are two number 9s.
How about Summer Camps, summer camp with activities that enchances academic grades and emotional quotient of campers. Camp activities are research-based exercises and results are proven by parents, teachers and campers themselves. Different life skill learning strategies and style are introduced that your child can use in their daily activities.
Good ideas. There are lots of simple things that kids like. I have found that blowing bubbles is a pretty universallly liked thing. Making snacks and a meal together is another. Inviting somebody to come over for a meal or a game is a good thing to do with kids too!
These are great suggestions. My niece and nephew are visiting next week, so I'm planning to spend as much time with them as I can. Camping and horse-back riding are a couple of things that we've put on the list. Lots of nature hikes, and of course, the beach. I also bought quite a bit of silly string and water balloons, but that might not be so universally liked.
@AmistadBaby@xanga - I knew something looked off! So sorry about that!
