Mama Fox While I was being less than observant, E (at all of 19 months) pulled out the step stool (I'm short and keep one in the kitchen), opened it up, pushed it to the counter, raided the fruit bowl, cracked open not one but two bananas and scooped/mashed the insides and ate most of it. 2 points for problem solving.
This kid loves bananas. Like jumping up and down excited "Banana!" excited. He loves food in general but not like bananas. He usually comes and tells me his hungry/thirsty before he starts raiding the kitchen but I think the sight of those lovely oh so delicious bananas in the bowl were just too much for him.
I found him like that, hand half in a banana peel with a "Uh oh" look on his face.
I tell him "No! You need to ask before you get food!" in a somewhat stern voice, partly angry with myself for not supervising the creative toddler, especially with bananas in the house.
I walk away to start up dinner and after about 2 seconds Ethan starts to cry. Aww. He comes to me, looking all dejected.
"Mama... I got yelled at."
"Did I hurt your feelings?"
"...Yeah." with a pout.
"Aww. I was a little upset because you ate the bananas. I'm sorry honey." and gave him a hug.
That fixed it, well mostly because I'm still two bananas short, but he's happy. We put music on and danced around the living room. I unsuccessfully tried to teach Hunter how to do the Macarena but either way Ethan thought it was hilarious.

Dancing fixes everything.
What are your kids' favorite foods?
