How Was Your Recess Time Spent?
During classes in elementary school, I remember waiting and hoping for recess to come so my classmates and I could play outside. My girlfriends and I spent most of our time on the jungle gym. What did you spend most your time doing during recess? Do you know what your children like to do?

I played jumping rope with the other kids.
But besides that (and I know this sounds lame) I liked to follow the roly poly bugs around and see what they did.
Until the 3rd grade, we had recess twice a day and played all sorts of things outside. Group games(red rover, red light green light), jump rope, we played on the jungle gym. I think we mostly hung on the jungle gym and talked.
Once the third grade came I had to change schools and recess basically went out the window. The new school used it as a bargaining chip to get up to behave just the way they wanted us to. I don't think we got recess more than once every two/three weeks because they always said we didn't do what we were supposed to.

I played "animals" and "Small Soldiers" and then when I got older we played "Gangs" or something like that. We also played "Girls chase boys" and "boys chase girls". We would switch who would be the chasers each recess. It was fun until someone got hurt, cried, and then the teachers told us no more.

I used to play on the money bars, on the jymnastic bars, or play wall tag. :] Ah, I loved recess.
We played tetherball, monkey bars, tag, four square.

that was 6th grade though. i think we played red rover before that.

I played kickball a lot...
I also hogged the swings (we only had three and we had to rotate but I never shared.. oops)
and I sometimes got asked by the "popular" girls to play double dutch if I was "lucky"
I liked the jungle gym.. I played on that by chasing the boys around it or playing hide n go seek.
We had boys vs. girls wars.
Oh, and I beat people up. :(
