My family didn't get a computer until I was in sixth grade. I received my very own laptop when I was a freshman in college.

My parents had an old comodore 64 when I was a kid. But I was about 18 when I bought my first Gateway computer.
My kids have had their own shared computer for a couple years... so they were 7,5, 4, and almost 2. Now they are 9, 7, 6, 3, and a 6 month old ( he doesnt use the computer lol). The rules are no computer during the week, only on the weekend, unless you are grounded from it.
I was 9 or 10 when I got my first computer. We brought a new computer earlier this year and now have our old one set up for our boys. They are 5, 3 and 18 months.
I think the first one was when I was 9. I remember having to teach my mom how to use it. =P
Wow...I feel old. I didn't get one until I was probably 20 or so. I probably won't get one specifically for my daughter, if anything, when she gets old enough she can use the family computer. We'll just set up a separate login for her.
My family got a computer when I was 4 or 5. I don't even remember what brand but it ran DOS. I got the hand me down family computers as we got new ones starting at about age 12 (no internet because it was in my room). I just bought my very first brand new computer last June, I was 20.

My family has had a computer in the house for as long as I can remember (my dad worked as a computer tech for a technology firm for 17 years), but we didn't get a user-friendly computer until Windows 95 came out in the mid-nineties. I received my (used) laptop when I went away to college, and it quit working two years later. Four years later, I'm still trying to save up for a Mac.
didnt know anything about computers until i moved in with my boyfriend (husband now) in 2004 and i was 18 going on 19 and i have had a computer sense then. ever sense i have had my computer thats how long i have had my online journal (xanga) =)
