QOTD - Happy With the Name You Were Given?
by Momaroo TeamDo you ever wish you had a different name? Do your children ever say they wish they had a different name even if it's a silly one they want? For example in the movie Big Daddy, the little boy wanted his name to be Frankenstein.

I like my name. It took time though. Since it was my name I didn't find it speical. For a while I tried going by my middle name, but everyone already called me Megan. Now, by hearing certain people call me, hehe, I like the sound of it a lot more.
When I was little I HATED my name, Gabrielle.
It's the french version of the name and here in the states it sounds too much like the English boy version 'Gabriel'.
Lol but now I'm over it and its neither bad or good. If anything I show off that it's french. :)
I like it (Stefanie Lorane), although almost everyone who knows me calls me Steanie (due to one time as a kid when I was writing my name in block letters and somehow forgot the "f" -- and I stupidly pointed it out to everyone). If I were ever to change my name, it would be to Steanie. It's pretty much how I think of myself now, anyway.
I like my name although it isn't very original. I'm child number nine and I only got it because I was born at sunrise and my parents hadn't gotten around to picking a name for me. I never hear it much though because everyone calls me Echo.
I like my name as I was the only Courtney in my school until high school.
I love my name, my mother wanted a name that wasnt very popular even though the name is having a come back now.( Emma) and I belive its important for the first and middle name to run well together. i love mine and i sometimes go by my first and middle, Emma Ann.
when i have a child i am going to name her Isabella, named after my favorite beach and i can call her bella as a nick name
My name is a Chinese Name ....
I don't mind my name.
I like my name, except my parents spelled it K-E-L-L-E-Y instead of K-E-L-L-Y and I could never find pencils or rulers with my name spelled correctly.
I absolutely love my name and would never change it.
Oh right, my names Libby.
I love my nameKianga Johari' (which means Sunbeam and Jewel in Swahili an Afrikan dialect) and would never change it!! It describes me all the way! Same for my daughter (Kioni Amelia Nkiru, Kioni means she sees and finds all, Nkiru means the best is yet to come) she will tell you her name when you don't say it right. Names with meanings rock!!
my first name is boring :/
but i like my middle name a lot - 'Kemi'
MY MOM GAVE ME MY NAME BECAUSE iT WASNT COMMON AT THE TiME BUT NOW iT iS ANd iTSz MORE OF A WHiTE GiRl [[NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE]] NAME... BUT iDK iM kNOWN MORE BY MY NiCkNAME THAN MY NAME..

WEN i HAVE A bby i WANT TO NAME HER/HiM A UNiQUE NAME.. YOU kNO? BUT THAN AGAiN THATSz WHAT EVERYONE TRiEd TO dO..
When I was younger I didn't like my name. As I got older it grew on me. Now I love my name. My mum also gave me my name because she thought it was unique; she didn't hear it a lot back in the day, even though someone on T.V. had the name. haha.
I never liked my name. My dad wanted to name me Melissa but for some reason let my mom name me Tasha. I always hated Tasha and wanted to be Melissa. I named my daughter Melissa and now I'm okay with my name. :)
My son (almost 4) wants to be Lightning McQueen. Seriously. He calls himself that and corrects me when I call him Kyler. And his sister calls him Lightning. I'm ready for that phase to be over.
My daughter (2) decides on a daily basis what she wants to be called. She'll say "Hi, Mommy" and I say, "Hi, Melissa" She'll almost always say, "I'm not Melissa. I'm _____ today" She picks between Mel, Meli, Baby and Melissa (if I called her by a nickname). Sometimes she's Sally (Lightning's girlfriend from the movie Cars).
I can't stand my name; I know a million other Shannons, it seems, but my parents swear they'd never known it was popular until after they named me. I was supposed to be a boy, though, so they did kinda have to just pick something real quick and go with it.
I plan on naming my kids so that if they dislike their first name, their middle name will also be a strong name that they can use instead. I dunno, I never felt like I could just start calling myself "Marie" cuz it was such a short name, and my last name is short too...I used to not like my name, but I've come to realise that Melissa isn't such a bad name. I don't mean to sound conceited but I think it's actually pretty.
@TashaDW_18@xanga - whoa I didn't read your comment before making mine. How trippy!!
sure why not =)
I have never been a big fan of my full name - Elizabeth - and really hated it when people called me that when I was younger. Now, it doesn't bother me as much but very few people call me that - it's just Liz. Elizabeth sounds so serious to me and I am not at all a serious person. Liz sounds more fun.
None of my kids have expresses a dislike in their names ... so far. Other than the normal kid play where they want to be Batman or something like that.
I've always liked my name (Gracie), because I thought it was really unique... it wasn't until I went around the internet one day to see it wasn't as unique as I thought it was. But still... =P I love it nonetheless.
I love my name, because I don't know anyone else who has it, and neither does any one else. Noreen. I use to hate it because of the fact that it was rare...
my name is Elisabeth Lee-Ann and i love it! i hate that people always spell my first name wrong though. and my middle name comes from 4 of my grandmas so i think that makes it cool!
Yeah, I'm happy with it. Except when half the girls in my church have the same name...
