Bumbo versus Super Seat
Deciding between:

1. Bumbo (more info):

- Doesn't look like it'll take up tons of space
- Will Coby's chunky legs get stuck? That seems to be a common complaint even though this can be used for kids up to 16 months.
- $40 at Babies R Us

2. Summer Infant Super Seat (more info):

- Has inserts to accomodate baby as he grows
- Toys and 360 entertainment
- Will probably come in handy once he starts eating
- Looks like it'll take up a lotta room (which we don't have)
- $50 at Babies R Us

3. Not in the running, but here's the Summer Infant 3-stage Super Seat again...I think? Does anyone know why the heck this one is $144 on Amazon? Doesn't this look just like the one above, but with different colors?
Any advice would be great! Thanks!

just wondering what the purpose of these seats are. Doesn't a high chair do the same thing?

my friend has one for her 6-month old girl and she loves it! it's good
for her posture and it's squishy to sit on. it's small enough to bring
for her to sit on at restaurants, etc. better than the booster seats
they have at restaurants. she highly recommends it.

To me, it just seems like one of those things like the shopping cart
cover- cute and generally a good idea, but mostly a waste of space and
a nuisance to have to remember to bring places. I used my shopping
cart cover twice. I sold it last week for $5 at a yard sale. Those
seats, the shopping cart cover and even the Diaper Genie are, in my
husband's words, "sucker items." Meaning they lure new parents into
thinking they MUST have them, when there is really something else more
practical and less pricy that will do the same thing (a high chair, or
infant carrier for the bumbo; the infant carrier or regular shopping
cart basket for the basket cover, and a good ol' fashioned trash can
for the diaper genie- which we also used for a month and sold for $5)

I work at a baby store and we carry the Bumbo seat and The Bebe Pod by Prince Lionheart. I like the Bumbo better, because the material seems more comfortable and kids who sit in the Bebe pod tend to get bored or uncomfortable and inevidably start screaming. The Bumbo is my vote:)

I am getting a bumbo...which you can also buy an attachable tray for cheerios etc. I am excited to get it:)

I like the bumbo. My daughter started using hers around 2 1/2 months. She loved sitting upright and that helped. You can get a tray to put on it, so you can give baby different toys so they don't get bored with the ones attached, like the other chair.

Check around at consignment stores...I got my bumbo for $15 and it was like new.

@MelodicPuppy@xanga - I agree completely...there is so much CRAP out there that people think they need for babies, and babies don't actually require that much!! I hated our diaper genie (thank goodness it was free from a friend). That's why I don't buy a whole lot new if I can help it. That has saved us a lot of money and space.

@MelodicPuppy@xanga - I completely agree with you about the diaper genie. After a few months of changing out the bags I asked myself, "What am I doing handling all these poopy diaper bags when I could have wrapped up the diaper in a plastic shopping bag, thrown it away in the regular trash and been done with it for good?" That was the end of the diaper genie for me. No more handling stinky diapers twice. Once is enough for me.
I will say that I liked our Bumbo because my daughter didn't like reclining in her car seat (which made for horrific car rides) or her bouncer seat. With the Bumbo she could sit up straight and it provided a bit more support for her when a boppy pillow wasn't enough. Also I found it more convenient to take with me around the house rather than take the high chair everywhere. Plus, she liked to be seated at floor level with her toys. So for us, the Bumbo was useful until she could remove herself and crawl around.

I had a different brand, the BeBe Pod, from Target/Walmart, for $30, just like the Bumbo Seat. I think the other one is similar to an exersaucer or even just a high chair, and too bulky for what you are probably wanting. The bumbo or bebe pod are really handy, really great for you child who's not quite sitting yet.

We got a Bumbo seat when my son was around 6-9 months old, so he was almost to the age of not getting much use out of it. He loved it for the few months we did use it though. It definitely allowed him to see things and I think all of those toys would just distract the kid from seeing what is really going on around him/her.

I ended up giving my Bumbo seat to another mom and hope she is passing it along when her little one gets too big for it.

I would get the bumbo with the tray. I never used either one. John learn to sit up at 4 months and could sit in a Boppy when he was 3 months. We always just used the booster seats at the store (and now he has his own that I mostly use at home).

We have a Bumbo and we love it. I also read reviews about chunky legs being stuck and since I have a rather chunky baby for his age, I was a little worried. I tried out a friend's first and he loved it. He's nearly 7 months now and his chunky legs aren't near to being stuck!

My son LOVES his bumbo seat. He likes being able to sit upright and look around. I got my seat and the tray together for $25 on craigslist http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites. Best $25 I ever spent!

I'd go with the bumbo. The great thing about them is that they are really small and easy to move around. You can also buy trays for them with toys that are pretty cheap. I've had three kids and used the Bumbo for all three.

Bumbo is the best. It doesn't take up that much space. It's super easy to clean [just wipe with a wet rag or baby wipe]. It has a removable and optional tray. And it is portable [if you want it to be.] On etsy they sell removable/washable covers for the bumbo and it has loops to attach toys to.

I used it for my son and I am currently using it for my daughter. My son had an exersaucer which looks similar to the super seat. He ate in it a few times but it was harder to clean especially between the nooks and crannys and the toys.

The bumbo seat doesn't have a strap, so for that alone, the other one is great!

@MelodicPuppy@xanga - Oh, no we use our Bumbo everyday and would die without it. It is truly a life saver. It makes my little guy so happy to sit in it since he isn't sitting by himself yet. I love it and recommend it to anyone.

@draco1531@xanga - It doesn't need a strap because the baby can't really get out and if you have the tray there is no way for them to get out. I thought that too at first but after using ours I realized that my son couldn't get out and my older one can't get out with the tray on.

I think that Bumbo is the way to go. We love ours and take it everywhere. It's small and easy to just throw in the car and take with us and it doesn't take up that much room in the living room or at the dining room table. We would probably go crazy without ours.
