Yesss. I did swimming, soccer, and track. I did dance for one year. Ice skating until my knee gave out.
My sister does: swimming, soccer, track, basketball, and tennis (she's attempting to play every sport at her high school). Ice skating. And she also did dance for one year.
My brother does: swimming, soccer, and track. He did ice skating, but that's just to try it out. And mostly everything he does revolves around soccer and getting better for soccer. He goes to weight lifting 3 days a week with the team, then he does indoor soccer games on Sunday night usually. And today he's up at a university about 3 hours away with the team training (which they do every weekend).
My littlest sister does: soccer, track, dance and ice skating, too.

Sports are super important. I probably wouldn't have made friends if I didn't play soccer. I was so damn shy. Same with my brother.

My littlest sister is in 6th grade and just started track. She's not the best, in fact, she's near the last. But  everyday that she passes someone, she likes feeling accomplished, I think. And she likes being on a team and having something in common with other people.

And not to mention, when a coach tells you which uniform to wear and what time your practice is... you have to have good organizational skills and good time-management so you don't have to run a mile -after- practice, when you've usually run about 2.5 miles already.

Every kid should do a sport.

Yessss, I played baseball for 9 years and my brother did for 7-8. I also danced after, was on a couple dance teams, badminton, floor hockey and now that I'm older I'm getting im getting into tennis and dance again.
When I have children they'll deffinitely be enrolled in a couple of sports

My mom enrolled me in ballet/jazz/and tap dancing.
I've already picked out what I'm sending my kids to do if I ever have any.
I want my girls to take up gymnastics and my boys to take up boxing. This will go on until they're 10 (or until they wanna try something else physical) and after that I'll let them pick if they wanna continue or if they wanna start up something else but until they are 14 they have to be involved in a physical activity.

I played soccer and tennis through highschool.  I probably went way overboard with soccer but I loved it and chose to do that with my schedule.  up to 4 hours a day 6 days a week is too much though.  I really loved being involved in a team and having a common goal with someone.  They taught me a lot of discipline too.

My oldest two play soccer, basketball, and baseball.  I attempt to get them out and meet people from the community but after two years, if they choose not to play anymore we will not force them.

My youngest goes to mini movers and swimming.  I don't think it's so much about playing sports but the teamwork that is involved and the socialization.

Yes, I played sports as a child. I did soccer, gymnastics, cheerleading, and dance. I continued soccer for a long time through high school and still play it in college. I love the sport and I believe it helped develop many skills for me like team work. I also continued with cheerleading/tumbling after my childhood and enjoyed that a lot. When I have kids, I don't now, I plan on putting them in sports because I think it is an important experience all kids should have.

Field hockey, badminton, and floor hockey.  I like soccer as well but didn't paly much of it.

Lol. Yes. I played almost everything. And I sucked at all of it. I played teeball, softball, soccer.. All three for numerous years. I even played on an all-boys football league for a season. I really didn't fit in. And reallly, really sucked at football. Which the boys didn't appreciate.

My daughter is still too young for actual sports, but we work on throwing, catching, and kicking balls around.

When I was younger I did dancing, swimming, vollyball, baseball, and soccer. Now that I'm older I'm on track and did cross country. When I'm a mom I hope to encourage my kids to try out all kinds of sports.

Not any type of sports that was organized. I think we'll have our kids choose one sport to do, at least during each season.

My family has always been active in playing sports.  I played basketball, volleyball and tennis.  We played softball every summer in city coed leagues, and my parents drove all over the state for our games.  We had a blast!  I sincerely hope that my kids are interested in playing sports.

  • patrickspeaches@xanga

I didn't play sports as a kid but my 8 year old plays softball. We enrolled her in the local park and rec last spring and she loved it. We are planning on doing it again this spring.

I rode horseback on our farm and would have enjoyed ballet if the class had been closer and easier to attend. I hated team sports, but was forced to play.  Our daugher does not play any sports at present.
