Hooray for Slings!
I already placed the order for my sling here.
I just have to pay for it on Friday/Saturday and then pick it up when it's done. (The lady is literally 5 miles from us!)
Yay! I know Megan will be thrilled!
My back and arms just let out a sigh of relief, too. I love Meggers to death, but she's taxing every muscle between my neck and hips with her need to be held, which seems to have spiked recently...not to mention? Girl got HUGE seemingly over night! (Not "fat", of course, just normal growth, but still...heavy when I'm carrying or holding her 8+ hours per day.)
Do you have a sling? Do you have recommendations on where to find a good one?

I have a hotsling and I love it. My daughter is at the age now where she likes riding on my hip. I got mine on clearance at the hotsling.com website, but etsy.com also has some similar slings for a great price.
I have a friend who makes them, ring slings, and I LOVE mine!!!! People can message me if you want one--they're a great and fair price at only $20-25 (depending on the fabric, print or solid).
I can't wait to have a baby and totally want to babywear!
my grandma used to put me on a sling so she can do house work, and cook ! clever :) but instead of putting me in the front, she puts me on her back xP
Slings are cool. I got mine off the web. Be patient with your little one. Not all babies take to them immediately. Keep on trying. They also work well for toddlers.
@romic@xanga - Megan's actually loved it from the start. If I put her in it facing forward so that she can see what's going on, she coos and smiles at all the new things she can see. :o) It's awesome for her and me.
@IamKelleyK@xanga - At some point in the past, I looked at the hotslings, but they didn't seem to offer a lot of upper back and neck support...maybe there different ways to wearing them? Megan's good for throwing herself over backwards right now and that worried me.
I love ring slings. I make them and sell them! I've made all sling types and stuck with the Ring Slings because of the ease of use, and because it offers the most variety in positions. I still wear my 4 year old, my 2 year old and my 8 month old! I love nursing in a ring sling as well, you can use the tail as a cover and no one can see a thing! I use them as stroller covers, changing pads, blankets, and even shopping cart covers!

Come see what we have! All of our slings are lined with either 100% cotton flannel or cotton (your choice) and are triple on triple stitched at the rings for extra support as well as top stitched around all the seams!
i recently ordered a moby wrap from target.com. i have tried it on and have put a stuffed animal in it the way you'd put a baby in it, lol. we'll know in about two months how it works out with the real baby.
@filtered_sunlight - Good to know! I remember putting my first, now a teen, into her sling when she was about 4 months old. I laid it out on our bed the put her inside. She disappeared, then totally freaked. I had to take her back out. As she got older she grew to like it.
Other children had reflux, her included, and we couldn't use it until they were older. Our youngest never took to it. I guess every one has his own opinion, even babies.
Slings are great. It is best to try them on with your baby when buying one. Some people prefer one type over others. It is what you are comfortable with. You want something sturdy, strong and washable if possible. It is best to still have one arm to help support them. It alleviates the stress on your back.
