Having Sex at 12 Years Old, Boy Fathers Child at 13?!
I saw this article today and am completely scandalized, disgusted and just....dumbstruck.
This little boy, Alfie Patten is a FATHER at 13! I'm just so scandalized by the fact that this kid had a kid at 13 years old, and he was having sex at 12. The article states, Boy dad Alfie Patten yesterday admitted he does not know how much nappies cost — but said: “I think it’s a lot.”
I'm just worried that these children don't know what diapers cost...how are they going to do otherwise? Children are hard, especially when you're younger because you just don't have the patience that an older person has. I'm willing to admit this first hand. My mom has soooo much more patience than I do, my best friend who just turned 30 (although she had her's young) has a lot more patience than I do at my age.
The father of the new kid-dad said he was going to have the birds and the bees talk with him, although it is a little too late now. I remember having my first sex talk at around 12-13 and at the time I remember thinking 'OMG I'm almost 115% sure I don't want any of that going on'. I wasn't even sure about kissing boys at the time, forget getting down to the hanky-panky.
I'm also concerned about what this kids' parents were doing while these 12 year-olds were having sex. Now I know that kids are mischevious but I can't remember ONCE my parents letting me be alone with a boy for longer than 5 mins. In my experience it typically takes longer than five minutes to get dirty and spawn a child. Typically...now maybe I'm wrong...you never know. Also in this article is says the little boy is staying with the mother and leaving from there to attend school.
Ok so let me get this straight, you're going to give him the talk but then you're going to let him go stay with the girlfriend? You think this is going to prevent them from having sex and having another child at the ripe age of 13 or 14? I'm sorry but if this was my son, after this incident there would definitely be supervised visits. He can play daddy all his little 13 year old self wants, but I'll be damned if he going to be staying the night anywhere for a very long time.
What is your opinion on this? How would you handle this? Are you outraged too?

If you aren't prepared for the repurcussions (or if you don't understand them) you shouldn't be having sex.
This story left me with my mouth hanging open.

Also, his baby-momma is 15. I saw a picture of the "family" together, and it's this girl who looks 15, next to this little boy who looks like he's barely 10, with this baby. It makes me sick.
12 year olds know how to have sex?? REALLY?!! I didn't even know how to french kiss at that age...good grief. That article sickens me. What the hell is going on with this world???

In this country, wouldn't that be considered statutory rape? I think 16 is the age of consent in most places, and 15 is almost 16, so...
This honestly just leaves me speechless every time I hear about it.
When I think of my boys at twelve and how boyish they were.......and what in the world was he doing with a girl that much older? Two or three years at those ages are like light years and I thought girls at that age generally admire older boys.
It makes me sick, too. Why would a 15 year old want to have anything to do with a little boy? That's just freaky. The whole thing is just wrong on so many levels. What kills me is that the parents don't seem to mind, or to think that these kids don't need major supervision. Insane.
I am just greatly disturbed.
@sarahzthoughts@xanga - I don't think so. Both of them are underage. It would only be a problem if she was 18+ and he was younger than 15, as I understand it. I could be wrong though.
wow. But honestly, when I was that age and younger I knew people who were having sex, and if they weren't going all the way, they definitely were doing other stuff. People managed to not get pregnant but my sister was in middle school when a girl she knew in the 8th grade was pregnant.
So yea, it happens, even though it's disgusting that it does. Too much free time for these youngsters.

wow thats sad but at least it wasnt molesting involved. Its also wierd that she was 15 but people are strange. In addition there was sex, yes actual intercorse, in my elementary school when i was growing up and frankly thats why this doesnt surprise me.
I thought if it was two people under 18, then the limit was four years before becoming a crime...
I think it wouldn't be a big deal, except that he's so young. Had he been 15 and she 17, it would have been typical. But because the ages have shifted much younger, it's crazy.
Worse yet, it's the World Soap Opera, they have added to the story, the 15 year old mother had another partner, her 16 year old boyfriend, who swears everyone he knows thinks its his kid as well does he.
This poor girl needs some sex education served to her on a platter. She obviously never asked the chemist for a rubber.

There's only two years difference in their ages so it doesn't seem that odd to me that they'd like each other (it wasn't molestation, I don't think), but the fact that they were having unprotected sex is appalling. They had to know what the consequences are.
Of course, at their age, the consequences probably seem like something that isn't real or couldn't happen to them. Until it does, of course.
These two kids have a hard road ahead of them and so does that cute little baby.

I am so worried about that poor baby....I pray that good will come out of this and they will shock the world and be amazing parents but wow.....12 and 15?? Dang....When I was 12 I was still playing with my American Girl dolls...
Honestly, it's a lil wrong...what scares me the most is that "Alfie" looks more like the newborn's older brother than father.
this kinda thing happens on the east side of toledo all of the time..thats a small town from where I live..It sick and sad but its happing more then pople know they just dont go on tv with it!

Is that little boy in the picture the dad? The world right now is so crazy. This is what happens when a culture for the most part loses sight of moral absolutes. And where were his parents!!! Missing in action. I didn't know about sex until I was twelve. That's when my mom talked to me about it. But before then, my parents stressed how important it is for two people to be married before they express physical love to each other. They told us to keep our hands off the opposite sex as a general rule. And even if we were tempted to disobey, we never even had the opportunity to "do it," so to speak, because my parents always knew where we were and what we were doing. Call it control-freaking if you like, but I didn't get pregnant.
So now a little boy is a father. It's crazy.

I am totally appalled. 12 years old? Oh dear lord. My neice is 12. That really just makes me want to put her on house arrest untill she's 25.

This is sad and disturbing. I don't know why a 15-year old girl would even be with a 13-year old boy.
I'm outraged at the parents for letting this happen in the first place. They've pretty much ruined the kid's life.
I'm truly disgusted! I hadn't even had my first kiss at age 13! What have the parents of these 13 and 15 year olds had to say in response to all of this?
