Player with Down Syndrome Wows Fans
by Mama Pig This was on one of the Carepages I follow. Some of you may have caught the story this morning, but I thought it was worth sharing.
It goes to show that I am correct; children like Emily have no boundaries if given the opportunity to fly.
Go Patrick!!

Thats awesome! =D
haha i definitly cried lol
awesome video!!
That's really cool!
Man, that actually brought tears to my eyes. That is awesome. I am glad to see that there are kids out there who don't just pick on mentally challenged kids, you hear about it too often, and it is nice to see kids getting along like there is no differences between any of them.
Awww.... awesome!
What a great team and coach, not to mention Patrick. Go Maine!
@lilwetduckie - I have to agree. I was so proud of the boy that willingly gave up his spot so that Patrick could realize his dream. This world has come a long way in such a short time and it really gives me hope for the future.
Wow, had not seen this. I am a special ed teacher of students like Patrick. One of my students, who is mentally retarded, has helped with the football time for the last 3 years, he is the team. He is a football fanatic, and can tell the you quarterback of any NFL team in the nation, just throw a team at him, more than likely he knows. Yet, this young man cannot tie his shoes, do simple math, or read a simple sentence. Last year, the coaches taught him how to kick field goals. They were hoping to find an opposing team that would allow him to kick a field goal during a game, but that never happened. Our school ended up going to State, and becoming State Champions, after 20 years. Everyone made sure that even Chris got a State ring! " It isn't what the team has done for Chris these last three years, it is what Chris has done for team," a statement made by our athletic director to Chris' grandma at his last IEP meeting.
That's so exciting!
That's so awesome. Was having to hold back the tears at the end. It's nice to see that we still have great people in the world, and people like Patrick can live their lives without having to be in constant fear of all the jerks out there.
