A Few of My Favorite Post-Pregnancy Things
by Mama Giraffe I feel like climbing to the top of a mountain, swinging my arms and twirling around while I announce to the world that I JUST FIT INTO MY PRE-PREGNANCY REGULAR JEANS!
Not my pre-pregnancy "fat pants"...oh no. My real honest-to-goodness jeans. You know, the kind with a zipper and a button? Yes, those!! And, I didn't just fit into them for a few minutes while I sucked in my gut in front of the mirror - I WORE THEM ALL DAY!
Ahh, it's a beautiful thing. I have my body back (well, kind of).
So that made me think of all the things I love about being recently un-pregnant. Here they are, in no particular order.
A Few of My Favorite (Post-Pregnancy) Things:
1. Wearing jeans
2. Sleeping on my stomach
3. Getting in and out of my car without using the "oh sh*t" handle and getting out of breath
4. Hugging people without having to turn sideways
5. Wearing my rings
What would you add to the list?

I haven't had her yet, but I can't wait to get my jeans back...cannot wait.
And put my rings back on their proper fingers, since I moved them all over 1 finger so they'd fit.
I do sleep on my tummy, but, I can't wait to be able to bend over without feeling like I'm cutting off circulation and air to SOMEWHERE that makes me dizzy.
And I definitely can't wait to be able to eat like a normal person without getting nauseous. (Yes, 36 weeks and still getting occasional morning sickness...)
- having a beer or glass of wine with dinner
- sitting in hot tubs
- not having to pee all the time
And a totally agree with that sleeping on your stomach thing. I really missed that in the last trimester or so.
NOT. THROWING. UP! (or just feeling constantly nauseous)
So, so, sooooooo looking forward to that again!@PoetMcChick@xanga - It really does go away like the DAY after you deliver! It's wonderful!!
Also, drinking soda without feeling nauseous, being able to sleep through the night without getting up to pee, being able to bend over again, being able to wash dishes comfortably (seriously, preggo women should be given longer arms to compensate for the space taken up by their ginormous bellies!), and being able to make love to my husband without being in horrible pain afterwards!!
Only 8 more weeks! I am SO excited!!!
I know it's bad but the first thing I asked for after I gave birth was a blended mocha frappuccino. LOL Seriously. But boy did I pay for it with a caffeine high for the first 2 days straight. Haha!
Yes, and fitting into "normal" clothes (finally back in them as well) and everything else you and the gals above me have stated. Also, I know it's a small thing, but finally being able to sit cross-legged. LOL Dumb, I know, but that's how I sit on the couch and it's comfy to me (especially without a big preggo belly in the way!).
Having coffee, sleeping on my back and stomach, hot baths, no heartburn (I had a very hairy baby!), no nausea, no peeing every 5 minutes...
But I have to admit, I liked my pregnant body. I felt curvy and sexy when I was between 7 and 8 months pregnant. And I missed having no periods, and not having to use birth control.
There are ups and downs to pregnancy and not being pregnant.
@IamKelleyK@xanga - Ooooh yeah, I LOVE not having a period!
I would add:
1. Holding my pee
2. Having a beer (no, I'm not an alkie)
How about being able to tie my shoes without getting out of breath? And I have really been aching for a dip in the hot tub.Â
Sushi! :)
And being able to tie my shoes.... though I do live in FL and was pregnant most of the summer, so flip flops prevailed!
Having a real sense of balance also tops my list, that's for sure!
@MlleBaroque@xanga - Can't wait for that sickness to go. Oh yeah, and the sex is quite uncomfortable. But I just can't help myself. My boyfriend said to me the other day (cuz it'd been awhile due to busy schedules and stuff) "yeah, it was uncomfortable for me because of the cannon belly you got...I can only IMAGINE how it must feel for you..."
Things that will be nice:
Not having heartburn anymore (sadly the bigger the baby gets the more heartburn I have) It disappears after delivery
Not being emotional all the time.
Things I will miss:
My hubby being worried about me and taking care of everything
Not getting the fearful 'is she gonna have that baby right here?' looks in the supermarket those last few weeks, especially when I was on the phone or in a hurry. :)
Luscious hips and giganto knockers! they make the waist look nice and petite, even if it's a little thicker than it used to be!! I probably spend a little more time in front of the mirror than is strictly necessary those first few months
haha! congratulations, hun! :)
*NO MORE HEARTBURN
