  • Vandalism- Hit Too Close to Home!

    Guest post submitted by BarryDadof3

Vandalism- Hit Too Close to Home! I'm getting tired of vandalism, and not just any old vandalism... vandalism that happens in the name of fun, usually by a group of young people who have not taken the time nor care to take the time to think about the consequences of their actions. When caught these offenders will often just say "we were just having fun and we didn't hurt anyone" never realizing how wrong they are.

Vandalism does hurt people just not in the way they were thinking.

There is always the time it takes for clean up that could have been used for other things and the money it takes for cleaners and materials to clean up the vandalism. The possibility of broken stuff,  the constant thought that it could happen again. Not like a death threat but the thought that they got away with it once what's to stop them now.

Vandalism is a crime that is personal to the victim. You are ruining their stuff, the items they worked for or the items they use for work.

So why this post? Why so upset?  What was the straw that broke the camels back?

Vandalism Hit Too Close Too Home!

This is our bedroom window, all it would have took was 14 inches to break our window.  Then you would have seen a little bit more than upset cause that means they could have hit me ...my wife or any  one of my three children

This is the neighbor's (he is also a relative) car lot up the road...his lot houses his limos, buses and cars he wants to sell. You see he drives limos and bus (that is were most of his money comes in.)
Let' say for some strange reason that he could not get green spot off or there was a broken window, (the green paintball substance is only about 5 inches away from the window) that would cost him money which he could support his family...

Vandalism costs...you may not think so but it does.

This may be an extreme case but what do you think they started with.

    Have you ever been vandalized?

Vandalism is foolish, selfish, and really immature.

Ugh that video makes me sick.  Some people are just disgusting.

Yes. I've had my car keyed. The worst part was I knew who did it, but since I didn't have any solid proof, he got away with it. It would cost over $600 to have my car door repainted, so I live with it. Sure, I have insurance which would cover it, but then I'd see a hike in my premiums in the long term. :-/ It hurts me to see my first new car damaged.

I've gotten really tired of having to replace or mailbox every so often, because kids are having Fun driving around bashing them!   Glad they missed your window.

That video is So Scary; I hope never to encounter that!  My dad was "vandelized" in a way when he chased after a van that had just egged our neighbor's house.  The people in the van threw eggs at him.

OMG. I can't believe the nerve of some people, especially after watching that video. Vandalism is definitely a crime in my book. I also hate it when people claim graffiti as art.

Our house and cars got egged several times. We never found out who did it. It made us feel targeted, because we were the only house in the neighborhood that got hit.

  • beckyjo82@xanga

We had our house egged one time and another time we had four pickets of our fence kicked in.  I still haven't been able to get the egg completely off of our house and it happened in Aug.  Thankfully the guy who installed our fence replaced the pickets for free.  We still haven't stained them, but at least they are in.  If we hadn't noticed that they were kicked in we might have lost our dogs who would have been albe to fit through where the missing pickets had been.  The sad thing is we live in a decent area, but really far from anything to do so kids are just bored and this is how they entertain themselves.  A house nearby was broken into and some windows on an unoccupied house were broken.  Very frustrating!

my neighborhood used to be like that...calmed down since i was in in elementary..cleaner streets less graffity...vadalism still around though...sucks ass though...those kids must have no life....

My parents have had their mailbox knocked off two or three times by vandals and had to replace the actual box...I'm not sure how it is still standing, it's leaning so far over. I wish there was a way you could catch the vandals, but it doesn't seem to matter that the sheriff lives down the street.

  • Meahsmom@xanga

    that's truly disturbing

Wow that video pisses me off. It sucks that you got vandalized. I know I live in a neighborhood where I have to worry more about something other than paintball guns. Our neighbors are not the nicest and we have our suspiscions that they may be into drugs, but we aren't sure. Very glad that this is just a rental and that we have less than six months.

Hopefully the kids who did that will learn that that is NOT harmless fun.

ok, i think the jump from someone vandalizing with a washable paintball to drive by shooting is far fetched. i understand you're upset & with every right. but you're not being realistic and you're showing an extreme example. you're exaggerating the facts. it's not right for you to try to scare people into thinking that every kid who shoots a paint ball is going to shoot a gun just because your house got tagged.

the FACTS here are that your house WASN'T damaged, you family WASN'T hurt and really, you are NOT a victim of anything worse than a little clean up. get over it already.

not every kid that shoots a washable paint ball is going to graduate to drive by shootings. seriously. get a clue. i'm not condoning vandalism. but i'm not going to condone your exaggeration & attempt at martyrdom either.
