When I was pregnant, I just wore regular clothes.  I never wore maternity clothes because I could never find jeans that I could afford that looked like the jeans in the photo.  I wasn't going to spend $200 on maternity jeans.

Old Navy. Their maternity clothes were cute & affordable.

My first pregnancy I bought all my clothes at Motherhood Maternity. What a mistake!!! They are horribly overpriced!!

  • RoAngie467

Target has a good line of maternity clothing.

  • Momma_2_Be

American Apparel, H&M, F21 all have some really cute, really comfortable everyday clothes that can be worn as maternity clothes at least before you get too big I suppose.  H&M actually has a maternity line now called H&M Mama.

I bought from gap, old navy, and target, but nothing really fits right. all the jeans are always baggy. i only got a belly and didn't gain weight anywhere else, so i don't like the bagginess. most ppl i know just try to use their regular clothes in creative ways.

Consignment stores were a great source for me.  I couldn't imagine buying a whole new wardrobe you only wear for a couple of months.  It saved me a lot of money.  I also shopped at outlet malls, Old Navy, and anywhere else I could get clearance stuff!!  And getting bigger, stretchy normal clothes helped too.  My biggest problem wasn't getting maternity clothes though - my biggest problem was that my feet went from an 8.5 to a 10!!  I had to buy all new shoes.  That sucked!!

    my husband's closet

and the junior's department, those low rise jeans will go under a ginormous belly, and still make your butt look cute!

  • reasmom@xanga

@PoisonGrl21@xanga - I did the same thing and agree - what a waste of money!!

  • averyswife@xanga

Definitely Old Navy!  I'm tiny so they're the only place that sells things that actually fit me.  (Smalls from Wal-Mart and Target are just too big.)  Old Navy's XS maternity jeans fit me like a glove!!

  • LilMissBrwnEyes@xanga

I don't have a favorite, but Old Navy is the only place I have found a pair of maternity pants that fit me - in fact I just got my first pair yesterday. They're much more comfy than un-buttoned regular pants.

I shopped at Motherhood, Old Navy, Kohl's, and Ann Taylor.  Ann Taylor had the best fitting pants.  I would have shopped at Target but none of their things ever fit me.

I never had much luck with maternity clothes.  I mostly just got bigger clothes.  I work as a nurse so scrubs were my daily wear and you don't need special maternity ones if you get the drawstring kind.  I also raided my husband's closet a lot.

Honestly, I will probably go to walmart or a thrift store to buy something cheap, even if it doesn't fit right! I'm not going to be using it for years so im not sure if i see a point in spending more money on em!

Either that, or i'll just make my own. It would be so fun to be able to sew my own shirts or expand my pants!

I made a lot of my clothes.  Some things I borrowed from my husband and friends, like big sweaters, sweats.  I bought very few items from maternity shops.  I am very good about watching expenses.

It was a little difficult because I'm plus size but I bought most of my pants at Motherhood Maternity and got a bunch of stuff online at Old Navy. I also luckily have a friend who is about my size and had saved her maternity stuff...so I got some great hand me downs from her.

I didn't really buy maternity clothes. SInce I was "big" pregnant over the summer, I was able to get away with a lot of my loose, flowy summer tops and dresses. When I started outgrowing those, I just shopped one size up. For us it was a lot less expensive than buying maternity clothes that I would only wear for a short time period. I think I only had to buy pants and that was toward the end. For a large part of my pregnancy, I just wore my regular jeans and held the closure together with a hair tie. Throwing on a long tank top under a shirt made sure that I was showing my undies to the world!

A lot of the newer trends for teenagers are very complimentary to a pregnant woman's body.  Most of my shirts right now are just from the young woman's section.  The empire waist is very easy to find right now.  Longer tees and sweaters usually stretch pretty well too.

My church has pregnant women every year, so we just passed the clothes around. It's only for 9 months and none of us were really keen to change our wardrobes. The maternity clothes package has a range of sizes, so all of us could use them.

    Husband's closets are fantastic too!

Ive bought most of my maternity clothes at Motherhood during sales. I live in south Texas and right now Motherhood has all of their summer stuff on really good clearance. Ive also gotten stuf from Old Navy. :D

  • MeikyuuButterfly@xanga

normal clothes except instead of S I got XXL ;D

  • BUCKWiiLD4LiiFE@xanga

I shopped at Motherhood for a lot of my stuff when I got bigger... Well.. I didn't buy too much clothes.. but I got a pair of jeans with the low elastic belt thing, a pair of sweats, a dress, couple tank tops since it was summer, and then a few cute shirts...

I mostly shopped in the juniors department for a lot of my pregnancy... Granted I was only 16 and thus SHOULD have been shopping in the juniors section... I think the jeans would work great for anyone though. They do go right under your belly...

I also was pregnant the summer that the "baby doll" tops got really popular... I found a lot of things that fit me. I never understood that style... It looked really cute on me cause I was pregant but it made some other girls at my school look a little stupid when I walked by them... 6 months pregnant... in the same shirt they were wearing.

Just didn't make much sense... but it was better for me! lol.

There are some really cute shirts at Victoria's Secret on the sale that I would totally wear if I was pregnant again. They look horrible if you're not pregnant.. but they'd be really cute if you were like 7 or 8 months.

Ann Taylor has a maternity line now which I look forward to. This post reminds me of Charlotte from SATC. In the movie, her maternity clothes were gorgeous. I googled it and they were by Oscar del a Renta. Figures!!!

  • NotUeberMommy

H&M's maternity line - I was as big as a house at the end, but I could still fit into their L or XL sizes. I like that their clothes are not matronly, plus that they are pretty cheap. I also have some European brands (I saved the good stuff for the next pregnancy!), like prettymum, which is very comfortable as well as cute. Good jeans are hard to find, I agree...

I look best in form-fitting clothes, so stretch is better than loose-fitting (my boobs are pretty big, and so I need to emphasize that I do still have a bit of a waist between boobs and belly, or I'll look like  blob).

  • Morningstarrising@xanga

When I was pregnant, I shopped at Old Navy and Target.  When I was pregnant with my first, I shopped at Motherhood Maternity.  I will never go back there.... the clothes didn't fit well enough and they were way too expensive, especially since I outgrew them in my third trimester.  Yeah, definitely going for Target or Old Navy if I ever get pregnant again.
