Grandma's Pregnant!
Guest blog submitted by Juejee

Yup. The title says it all. I'm a grandma and I'm pregnant. I guess it's safe to post here now that we have announced it to all of our kids.
Reactions were quite interesting:
The 25 year-old is excited. She screamed so loud when we told her, it scared her boss as she was at work.
The 21 year-old thinks it's cool he is going to be a brother again and said, "Now people know you can still do things like that." Was he saying we're old?
The 20 year-old didn't mince words. "This is awkward mom... you're OLD!"
The 17 year-old: "Well, there always seems to be screaming kids around here (referring to his niece and nephews), what's one more?"The 16 year old asked several times if I was joking then came out to announce: "I'm going to be a REALLY OLD sister. When I'm 26, it'll be 10." I said, "Think how Shannon (the 25 year old)feels." She said, "Eww, she'll be all old and wrinkly."
So... those were the kids reactions.
I am still in a bit of shock. My husband and I were told years ago that we wouldn't have a baby of our own (2 kids are his and 3 are mine) unless we went to a infertility doctor and took meds and such. That wasn't an option and we just got used to the idea that we had grandkids to spoil. Wow, when I saw the word pregnant on that test stick -- yup, I peed on the technologically advanced stick -- I about fell over. I kept going back and checking to see if the word "not" had popped up in front of it.
I told Hubby Saturday night. My grandson would not go to sleep. I rocked and rocked him in our old rocking chair and my back hurt more and more. Finally I put him down and he woke right up. I went in the bedroom and told Hubby if I was going to be doing this for the next few years I needed a better rocking chair! He said, "What do you mean?" I handed him the stick. He said, "What's this?" I said it's a pregnancy test and we are having a baby (I seriously wanted to say duh).
I have had headaches the last week and a few a.m.s of queasyness... other than that all seems ok. I just pray for a healthy happy baby even though his/her mom is OLD.Anyone else have a baby later in life? What are your experiences?

Congratulations!!
Welll...Congrats!
Considering my mom is a grandma of three (she's only 39), I want to know how old this grandma is!! Congrats!
Congratulations!
Two of my kids (born in Apr-00, Jan-02) are older than my youngest sister (born in Aug-02). It's amusing, especially how my youngest sister and my 3rd child (born in Feb-03, same first name as my sister) interact...they call each other "the other Olivia"
Well, I am not a grandmother yet, but I have had two babies later in life. First and foremost, Congrats!!
There is fifteen years between my brother and myself. My uncle is only four years older than me. My oldest turns eighteen in two weeks and I have an almost four and almost two year old. I can tell you, it is way more fun this time around. You know what to expect and can just have fun.
I'm guessing the at the least you're 43...
Hmmm...well good luck.
Best wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy! Congratulations!
congrats.. have you gone to the gyn to tell you how far along you are? and your due date?
My mom just turned 40 and is a Grandma -- she became a Grandma at 38 though. =) I joke around with her having a kid 'cause my dad loves it when my son goes over there. He loves babies/kids. I think it would be strange if they had a baby -- but I wouldn't put it past them. Haha. I don't think my mom wants another one though.
But congratulations!! Best of luck to you and the baby!
Congratulations! =D
Congratulations! I'm 10 years older than my sister. It's interesting but I wouldn't trade her for the world. I was so excited when she was born. I'm glad your kids aren't totally freaked out.
congratulations :)
Congratulations! I wish you the best of luck during your pregnancy!
Congrats.
And I appreciate the responses from your children...of varying ages. lol
My mother in law has her youngest in a simalar fashion in her mid 40's - she thought that it was menopause since she was told she would never have another child after a tramatic birth of the last child. She did just fine, she just took things slowly and focus on keeping healthy while going to high school footballs games and such with the others.
My grandmother was 48 when she had her last child - she delievered early but a healthy boy - she also thoguth that it was menopause but alas it was not. My uncle is only 3 years older than me - it's funny and wonderful at the same time! My grandmother said she had the advantage of having older children who could go get things for her - in fact she stopped grocery shopping completly since it made her sick (my mother was 22 so she went instead).
Congratulations - that's so wonderful!!
Congratulations! Just think of all the wisdom and experience that you have to parent this one that you didnt have for the others when you were younger!
Well, congratulations! I'm sure it'll be a whole different experience now that you are older and have done this all before. Good luck!
congrats!!!

Congrats. That's funny...some of his or her nieces and nephews will be younger.
