Sweet Communication: The Art of Letter Writing
Guest post by ArtistMommy
So Z has requested that we put up a mailbox outside our bedroom door so that she can deliver mail-notes to us. Apparently speaking directly to us has become passé and mail is the way to go now.
You won't hear any opposition from me as it's always a good thing when she wants to write more, building her handwriting and spelling skills and keeping her busy with something that doesn't involve the television.
So I promptly put up this little mail box outside our bedroom door.

It quickly filled up with little notes to Mom and Dad, with sweet messages of how much she loves us and sweet goodnights with lots of X's & O's and adorned with cute pictures of hearts and smiley faces.
Last night after she went to bed, I found this little note in the mailbox addressed to Mommy:

Today we will hanging a little mailbox outside her bedroom that i will lovingly fill with little notes to her. My first note will read:
The pancakes are hiding in your room somewhere but you will need to clean up all the mess to find them.
Love,
Mom XXXOOO

I love your reply!!!
i used to be a very angry and stubborn kid, so after an argument i wouldnt talk to anyone for the rest of the day. but i always felt so bad about treating my mom like that, so most days i put a little note on her pillow just to tell her i still love her.
im 20 now and i learned how to communicate my thoughts. ;)
and my mom kept all my little notes and put them into a book with the pictures i drew for her (which werent many, i suck at arts).
That's so cute!
thats really really great...like LisiliLostRedemption's mom, keep the notes!
all i could do is laugh at your reply haha
Hmmm I think when I have kids I will utilize something like that. Very cool!
LMAO! Mom for the win! ;) That is a wonderful set up! I can't wait until my kids are old enough to write me love notes.
aww that's so touching! and the best thing is that it came out of her first. it says a lot about you as parents. good job.
Oh that is the cutest thing in the world!!! Lovvvveeee ittt!!!!
haha that's sweet.
i write alot, i find i can communicate better in writing, so whenever i need to talk to my 'rents bout something serious or emotional, i write a letter. i think it works great. i get out what i need to say and they get to mill it over before giving me advice or other wise.
i'd suggest keeping up this mailbox thing, it could be a great line of communication when she gets to them teenage years ;)
That is absolutely adorable. You are so blessed to have her!
hahah clever and cute!
awwww, this one is lovely. i'll sure put up something like that when I have a baby.
