  • Milestone: I Can Stand!

This was the beautiful little face that greeted me the other day after nap time:

She'd pulled up a few random times before, but just last week started pulling up consistently. I always think it's kind of shocking when you walk into your baby's room and they're standing there staring at you! Even though you know they have the ability, it's always a bit startling!

Pulling up is always one of my favorite milestones. For one thing, they look so stinkin' cute! Such little miniature people! Hee... I always thought my son looked small, and now the two of them will be standing side by side, and A just looks so tiny. It's adorable. She's also quite proud of herself, so every time she stands up she just grins from ear to ear for awhile.

I also love the few weeks of super-contentment both of my kids experienced after this particular milestone. There is so much more to explore on the next level, I suppose. I don't think A fussed once all week - she just crawls from chair to table to couch and back again, pulling up, looking around, and back again. This new found ability has spurred on the speed of her crawling, too. She can crawl about as fast as I can walk from room to room. We had to whip out the handy staircase gate this past weekend since she was getting out of my sight too quickly.

I'm trying to guess which milestone will come next - first word or walking? R walked at his first birthday, but didn't talk until almost 18 months. We'll see what's around the corner for A!

What were some of your kids' favorite milestones?
