  • When One Day out of a Whole Month Gets Complicated...

    Mama Turtleby Mama Turtle

We all wanted to sleep in today, I guess. Dave said he'd be up with the boys. I woke up to TWO cell phone alarms going off at the same time, set right next to me. And one of the tones is Night Rider, if you can imagine how annoying that sounds.

I get the kids out the door as swiftly as possible, and make the mistake of turning the computer on to check emails before going back to bed. My appointment reminder popped up. Liam and Donovan have an appointment... at 10am... to get these warts they have checked out -- I'd like them burned off because OTC stuff didn't work and I can't afford to keep trying other OTC stuff. That means we have to get them out at a quarter after nine (boy I better get moving), get to the clinic by 9:45 because they have some "be 15 minutes early" rule.

I was also trying to meet up with someone who wanted to buy a video game off of me on base this morning, had forgotten about the video appointment they wanted at 10:30. How do I manage to make one day out of a whole month so complicated? I swear I never do anything, and then wham, it's all at once.

Have you ever crammed a bunch of errands into one day and felt completely overwhelmed? Do you have a special schedule or routine so you don't forget your appointments or daily tasks?

When we were at Ft Huachuca they had the 15 minute early" rule, and if you weren't 15 minutes early you were considered late, and NOT seen, and if you did this more than twice, they woulds refuse to see you at all.  If my appointment is at 1pm and you REQUIRE me to be there at 12:45, then make the appointment for 12:45, how complicated is that?

Its annoying, especially when you show up 15 minutes early at 12:45 and no one is at the dest till 1pm becasue of LUNCH!

Sorry, my rant!  I'll stop now!

My Saturday's are always busiest. That's when I run all my weekly errands. I have a routine down to get it done, but sometimes another day will get slammed for some stupid reason. Then I tend to get messed up, because I wasn't prepared.

Blah. I hate "those" days. I gave up Freecycle for the time being because I felt overwhelmed. Most of the shtuff that I get bogged down with tends to be household stuff though. I always schedule in more than I realistically have time for!

I use a calendar, check it every night, and then make a list of the errands that need to be done in order.  Usually, trying to make a circuit around town so I don't back track.  If there are appointments to keep, I make the list fitting them in where they fit so I'm not late.

I don't have a family or anything, but I read this blog...this made me laugh..I intentionally schedule my weeks/months like this. I make sure that there is one day where *everything* gets done...and then I can settle down and get back to my normal routine the rest of the week!

yea there's some days like that when i have so many assignments due for my classes and still clean the house, but i try not to over do it because of being pregnant and getting sick sometimes hehe...

hope you have a good day!!

@filtered_sunlight@xanga - i was on freecycle, but they kicked me off for "reselling things on craigslist"  i never did it, they supposedly "proved" it, which isn't possible, afaik, so i WILL NOT ever join another "freecycle" type organization.

but about the day thing? heck yes.

@orchestra3241@xanga -  Odd. Heck, there's one woman here locally whose name is "eBaySellerAsWell"...and a lot of other people that would reply to everything that was offered...which is questionable to me. Towards the end, I had a bunch of people no-show for things that I had offered and failing to put things that they had offered outside or be home when they said they would be...with gas at $3.90-something a gallon here (at the time; we got lucky and found it for $3.22 last night! Jackpot!), it started to be a better deal to just go to the store and buy the things I needed to finish up Megan's room! If that's the trend everywhere? They did you a favor. For now, I'm just boxing things we no longer use up and stashing them in the garage for the community yardsale in the Spring...about that time Megan will need new clothes and Summer toys anyway, so we'll definitely be able to use the extra money. *whispers* And a few things out there came from Freecycle at some point in the past! (They weren't picked up for the purpose of reselling, but since I can't get people to come pick the shtuff up again...)
