Everyone in our house gets hair cuts at home. I cant see paying crazy prices for something that we can do ourselves.

I've always cut my own kids hair. I cut my own hair too. One time my mother did want to "treat" us with haircuts for the boys, and we went to a Supercuts inside a Wal-mart. It was my worst customer service experience ever, and my boys, who were young but held very still, had the most atrocious, uneven haircuts. If I want to "get what I pay for" I might as well do it for free!

I've been cutting my daughter's hair at home, which is easy for me.  Here's my little tip I first tie her hair and then start cutting from the end. I purposely don't do it straight I give her a longer layer hair style that makes her look trendy. 

I have never took her to the hair salon before because I know she'll be afraid to let ppl cut her hair and another thing is she'll be moving too much.  

We have been cutting Junior's hair at home since he was about 3 or 4 years old.  Hair cuts cause him a great deal of stress and anxiety and it became very difficult to take him to get it done.  So the poor boy has had a buzz cut for most of his life just because that is the only cut we know. 

We found that it helped Junior if we tell him it is going to be done a few hours beforehand and we talk about it. We let him look in the mirror during the hair cut.  We also tell him exactly what we are doing as we are doing it.  He still doesn't like it but he rarely has meltdowns over it these days.

When I was little, my mom cut my hair at home. But I never liked how dorky she made me look, so when I was old enough, I started getting my hair cut at the salon. My little sister still has to endure my mom's hair cuts though.

The garage is a good place to cut hair, provided it's not too hot or cold there. Just sweep up the clippings and dump in the trash. You don't have to worry about hair getting all over the rest of the house.

I take my son to get his hair cut at a hair salon, its easier on both of us cause he likes his hawk and if i were to cut it itd be buzzed and he doesnt look good with no hair, lol.

I have 3 boys too and I cut their hair and my husbands.  It would cost way to much money to even think of taking them to get it cut.  I even cut my daughters hair.  I am the only one who has to go to the salon to have mine done.  But it is a nice treat for myself too.  I have used it as a goal with my weight lose.  When I reached the half way mark I went and got a new style.  Now that I have reached under 200 lbs I am going to get it dyed and highlights.  

My 18 year old and his friends give each other Buddist monk shaves and then I even out the back with a shaver we bought for the dog but didn't use because the dog died.  I have always though that it was really not a great style but since you point out that it looks like something worn by peaceful non-violent types I like it better now. 

My daughter has a lot of hair for her age. I trimmed her bangs a couple of times when she was younger (when she was sleeping), but I got tired of doing it, so we're just growing it out now. None of the grandparents like it, but I think she looks much cuter than if she had bangs. I always loved playing around with hairclips, etc when I was little, so I can't wait for her hair to be long enough to braid. It's a hassle washing off her hair though. I just looked online for how to cut bangs. The first time before I look into it, her bangs weren't that great. haha If I could, I'd cut my own hair. Honestly, I've only had it cut at a salon a few times, my mom has cut it when I was little (there's a photo of me with really slanted bangs), and I grow it for Locks of Love (twice so far), and maybe a third time now.
