Art Time!
by Mama FoxIt started as a simple painting project. I laid down our plastic shower liner, moved the coffee table to the kitchen (even with the liner messes happen and tile is easier to clean than carpet), got the aprons (left over from Papa Fox's waiter days), filled cups with water and squeezed out paint. Cut a piece of poster paper off the roll, Fox3 was put into the high chair to avoid him getting into it and I set the kids loose for their Art time.
Then the mess started.... Okay, I encouraged some finger painting...
Just chillin'.
At that point, I set the camera aside so I can join in on the fun. We completely covered the paper with paint.
Life is messy. Enjoy it.What kind of creative projects do you and your family like to do together?

thats so cute. How old where they when you introduced painting
@AlwaysandForever_hisbaby@xanga - Around 2 years old. When I was sure they weren't going to try to eat it.
I'm afraid of the mess lol..
@AlwaysandForever_hisbaby@xanga - That's why I put down a plastic shower curtain, use aprons and have them over tile rather then carpet. I'm always right there to prevent brush flicking, painting on things other then the paper, etc. The first few times they play with paint they are outside. The grass doesn't mind a little color.
The kids always have a blast when I pull out the paint. In a world where everyone is concerned about keeping things neat and clean, it's nice to let loose for a little while.
This mess took me 3 minutes to clean up with a damp rag. The kids just needed a bit of soap and water. Like I said, life is messy. There's really no way to get around it so might as enjoy it.
(If you are that worried, there's always water colors. It's easier to clean up and they are cheap.)
As a child, I used to bake together with my mom. Now that I'm an adult and bake from scratch, things have just gotten messier. =) I like to clean as I go along, however, which baffles my boyfriend.Â
My kids really like painting and playing with PlayDoh. My oldest enjoys collecting garbage (seriously, he brings home corn husks and broken pieces of plastic he found on the playground) and making things out of it.
I try not to worry about the mess either. Pretty near everything is washable. (We also use a plastic shower liner.)
Haha, my little cousins and I like to sit down and draw pictures. They're old enough now they can use pencils and markers, (7 and 8, plenty old enough) and the boy likes to draw Star Wars stuff, and military scenes. The girl usually draws "glamorous" portraits of people she knows. I'll sit and help them both draw anime pictures, or help them draw people.
My son and I love to have art time together. We almost always make "holiday-grams" for the upcoming or present holiday for the rest of our family.
The first time we played with finger paint, however, was an adventure in and of itself. We made sure to paint in the kitchen (I'm definitely a spaz about getting things on the carpeet) and while Mommy and Michael painted Daddy took pictures. The level of creativity that comes out of him is amazing, it never ceases to amaze me.
What a great idea! I bet your kids just soaked that up!
