  • Updates on the Pooper Scooper (That'd Be Me)

    by Mama Platypus

:: I'm shedding like a mofo man. They say on average you shed about 100-150 strands a day. Post baby you shed an average of 500 a day! Piebuh honduhred! That's a rot! Can I just say that my dust buster and I have rekindled our friendship as of lately? I just run around the house hunched over looking for hairs to suck up.

:: I got a visit from my aunt 2 Thursdays ago after not even a phone call for 10 months. Aunt Flow that is.

:: My weight is now down to 106. Four more lbs and I'll hit my pre prego weight. It's not even like I'm trying to lose weight. I don't even care if I don't go down to 102. I just want to be toned? The hubs promised me a treadmill once we move. He took me shopping last weekend because none of my pants fit me anymore. SUHWEET!  We had just parked our car and gotten Baby Platypus out and he started pushing the stroller as I locked up the car  and he turns to me and goes "Hun I left my wallet in the front!" I said "Nooooo, I have it in my purse. You didn't think that I'd forget your wallet did you? That's crazy talk!" Hahaha...THANKS HUN FOR MY CLOTHES! I LOVE YOU FOR THINKING OF MY FAT ASS!!!

:: I am a coupon cutting whore. It's true. I just started cutting away 2 weeks after Baby Platypus was born and haven't stopped since. And I hate it when a coupon expires and I have to chuck it. This one time at BuyBuyBaby this woman who was pushing a shopping cart with 5 boxes of Similac, asked me where I got my Similac check for $5 off and I told her she had to register on their site. She thanked me and walked away. I started digging through all 542 of my coupons and went after her to give her my Similac coupon for $10 off $50 or more on Similac products. She was so grateful. It felt nice to help another mother out. I realized that I'm more aware of other mommies. I'm definitely more empathetic. Plus I feel that if I do a good deed then I'm exempt from doing something bitchy later. When I first started this new hobby (yes, it's a hobby so stfu) of mine the hubs first said "Hun, we're not poor. You don't have to save coupons." This one time I accidentally left my coupons at home and while standing in the checkout line he goes "Where's the Similac coupon?" "Oh I forgot it." "You must think I'm made of money." Oh so NOW you need my coupons? Haha... What a donkey.

Did you pick up any new "hobbies" post partum, such as collecting shed hairs or clipping coupons to save a buck?

I'm still pregnant and still in that "nesting stage". I have gotten super-frugal though. Freecycle groups are the best. I got our crib, changing table, kitchen table and chairs all free through our local group. Bonus? It was otherwise in line to go to the landfill and it's still great, perfectly usable, all-the-peices-there stuff. I just had to go pick it up! Craigslist has become my other friend during this nesting period. I found my mom the platform bed frame she was looking for on there (made her day! And for $35!) and I've found two bar stools that match my Target clearance one from last year for $15 so that we can actually have seating at the bar area in our kitchen! I'm thrilled! (No, really, if reincarnation does exsist? I'm totally coming back as a bird with an actual nest. And I shall decorate it with bits of neon-colored weed-whacker string...maybe a little tiki roof, too... )

500 hair strands?!  I shed a lot on a regular basis, when I get pregnant, I'd be bald!  Is there anything you can do to prevent or lessen?

Because of the shedding I now have bangs. I worked with the youth at my church and some of the girls cut their hair to have bangs, and I think I got bangs on purpose. I had to clean up the bathroom floor everyday. So sad... I didn't care about losing the weight, but this flabby belly is definitely getting to me...and we're talking about baby #2? Oy. I give people coupons at the store too...like random ones that I didn't cut off with the one I'm using. Lucky me, Aunt Flow didn't come to visit until M's 1st birthday.

I just love reading your posts. Your tone and attitude are just perfect! You don't sugar-coat things, you just called your husband a "donkey", and you said STFU...I love that expression! Thank you for blogging!
