The Carseat Headpiece
So on Friday I took Baby Platypus' headpiece off her carseat. I just felt that it was time.
Before with the headpiece And without

And guess what? She LOVED it. No more head turning restrictions. I looked at my rear view mirror and she was looking out the window in awe the entire car ride.
Omg! I almost cried! She's all lookin like "Look at me world, here I come." and I'm like "PUT THE HEADPIECE BACK ON!!! OH MY GOD MOMMY'S NOT READY!"I'm sad cause I look at her and I see how much she's grown and is still growing and I can't do anything to stop it. *sigh* I'm gonna miss her the way that she was during this time. It really breaks my heart. Fock I hate being a mommy. I must go wake her and hug her now.

Her head looked uncomfortable when she fell asleep so we bought her this today. I'll let you know what I think of it once we use it but it got really good reviews.
Has anyone used this product before? Or is there another car seat support you'd recommend?

Aww how cute is she please?? And don't worry, she's still so young! I dare say it won't be the last time you feel like this but there's so many more events to come and memories for you to cherish
Your baby is sooo cute,howmold is she??...awww lil' princess.. cherish every moment because they grow up soo fast,i ave a 3 year old girl too..i remeber when she was ths old, now it seems like loong time ago..
what a cutie pie!!!
i really love your posts
She's gorgeous! It's never easy, watching them grow up. I'm a hop, skip and a jump away from puberty. *sigh*
very adorable!! i wished that too when my sister was still a little one but alas they grow
I so know what you mean about them growing up. My MIL bought my daughter some new jammies... they are so cute...but she looks SO grown up in them!!! AUGH! My baby is getting bigger. (I don't even want to THINK about the fact she's going to be A YEAR OLD in less then 2 months!)
Our car seat has this head thingy .... it isn't super snug around her head, but supports it when she falls asleep.
she looks like she's enjoying the ride much more now. :] she's adorable!
aww she is VERY cute!
she is so CUTE!! i miss having a baby baby. mine is already 3 years old!! indeed, they grow up REALLY fast...
Aww she's adorable looking out the window!!!
aww you caught an amazing moment. She may look uncomfy but I doubt she really is. My babies both had heads in laps.
What do you recommend for car seats? My friend has a baby (3 mths on Jul 2nd) and I feel like the carseat she has is rather unsafe. It looks a couple of years old (if not more) and yeah...so I was wondering if age is a factor for car seat safety.
Kids defnitely grow up way too fast. My oldest is 8 and my youngest will be 2 in a couple months. YIKES!! Cherish all the time you have with them.
As for the uncomfortable sleeping part. I have to agree that, while they may look uncomfortable, they really are OK. I look at the thing you said you bought and think it looks hot. IDK. I hope it works out for you. I know it is hard with the first one...not so much once you have 3. They will be OK.
She is just gorgeous! Love how her little toes are spread. Babies can really express themselves all over.
She is such a cutie :]
so cute!!
She is so adorable!! I just wanted to let you know that Britax strongly discourages using the Companion seat without the headrest. The head rest prevents serious neck injury in the even of a side impact collision which is especially dangerous for small infants. Although the Snuzzler looks like a good replacement, these type of after-market accessories are frowned upon in the Child Passenger Safety community and SafeKidsUSA. They may interfer with the harness and have not been crash tested. This means in the event of a collision the padding/filling in the Snuzzler may compress and allow more movement of the child which is very dangerous. Knowing the risks you are taking, if you are still going to use the seat without the headrest you may roll up two receiving blankets very tightly and place them on each side of her head.
I know you want to do everything to keep your angel safe so I just wanted to let you know what the car seat manufacture and SafeKidsUSA suggest. Signed, A Child Passenger Safety Advocate.
I just realized you may not even live in the states! SafeKidsCananda makes the same recommendations if you are in CA ;)
@I_Am_Twilight@xanga - OMG! YES, there should be a sticker on the car seat with either the experation date, or the date of manufacture. If it has the date of manufacture, then you'll have to go to the carseat maker's site, and see what they recomend for lifespan (you may have to call them). Also, if it looks weak anywhere, like the plastic is starting to get "wimpy" it is time to be replaced. Also if it has EVER been in an accident, you should replace it, this is why you should NEVER buy a carseat used, you don't know if it has been in an accident.
I know they are expensive, but it is well worth the LIFE OF A CHILD to find a way to get a new one,. It very well could save your friend's child's life.
If she can't afford one, she can contact the hospital or even the local WIC office, and while they may not give them out, they would be able to direct your friend to somewhere that can help her get one!
My mom bought us the kiddopotamus neck supports that go on the seatbelt. They are great for a few reasons: They aren't as hot as the head supports (that he was too long for anyway), they cover the seatbelt which means it doesn't rub his neck and annoy him, he can eat them (mmm...slobber), they support his head when he falls asleep. I'd go with those any day over the full body support - esspecially during the summer.
@Babis28 - she's about 3 1/2 months now. -mamaplatypus
@john@xanga - you do?! hahaha that means a lot. what about my posts do you love? is the overbearing motherness or the potty mouth that is still existent even though i have a child now?
@nawawala@xanga - have another one!!!!
@I_Am_Twilight@xanga - i think you should definitely be picky about the car seats. we have the britax companion. i hear the graco is really good and people seem to like the peg perego. we went by onsumer report when we picked out our seat.
Lol! My daughter HATED that headpiece, it always made her ead really hot! I balled at my DD's first birthday, all day becasue of the same thing you are talking about, and plan to ball again in a motnh when she turns two! It goes by too fast...I feel like I don't rmember alot about my time with her! I just wish we could stop time and really enjoy everything slowly!
