  • In the Womb: Pregnancy Updates

    giraffe-65x65by Mama Giraffe

fetus Even though this is my third pregnancy, I still signed up for the weekly fetus updates from Babycenter.  In case you are unfamiliar, it's a little synopsis of what is going on in the womb at each week of pregnancy (how big the baby is, what is forming, etc.)  I love them, I'm absolutely addicted!

When I was pregnant with my first, I scanned my email inbox every day hoping that another week had gone by and I had "earned" an update.  I read everything twice and then thought about it all day long.  I loved thinking things like, "Well, of course I'm tired today - I'm making the baby's liver!"

Now, as Baby #3 is growing inside me, I'm completely distracted at all times by my other two kids, husband, life in general.  I rarely get to focus on my pregnancy (or myself for that matter! ).  So now the weekly emails give me a 30 second chance to think about Baby #3.  And to marvel that he/she already has fingernails!!??!

Did/do you read updates about your growing baby?  If so, which website/book/magazine did you use?

I too signed up for the babycenter updates for all 3 of my pregnancies.  I loved reading what was going on every week.  I'm always amazed at how much changes in just a week, and how fast that tiny baby grows.  With my 2nd and 3rd baby, it was also a way to keep up with how far along I was in weeks.  I easily remembered with my 1st pregnancy, but was a little bit busier with the next 2, and was glad for the weekly reminder.  :)

i signed up for the babycenter updates as well and i love them!  this is my first so it's really great to know what's going on in there.

I was obsessed, and it probably won't be any different with the next one!

I also have baby center in my mailbox... and what to expect when you're expecting... and pregnancy facts/week by week on my google homepage...

It's all so addicting and so much fun to read about and fantasize about all day!  I can't wait to meet our little "peach" in person!!!

I signed up at both BabyCenter and AmericanBaby for my first, and now my second pregnancy.  I love them!  I love getting to know what miracle part is developing each week.  It reminds me to eat healthier, like, "oh the eyes are forming now, eat some carrots so they can see good!"  I do find this time, I'm not nearly as obsessed.  Life has run away with me and I hardly have time to think about this baby or pregnancy.  But it's good because I'm so much less fearful of every little thing this time.  I think once I have the first ultrasound, I'll feel more connected to this pregnancy.

I must be old...they didn't have internet updates when I was pregnant (or even internet, with my first, 22 years ago!) but I read every pregnancy book I could.

I signed up for Babycenter and also for AmericanBaby for both my son and my daughter. I love that I can go on there and look for information and most of the times address my own questions or little things that I'm nervous and curious about. I got my best friend to sign up for those two sites too, I liked to be able to sit down and read a little about what's happening to my baby even though I'm not in my belly watching them grow from the inside. It's an amazing gift to see your belly grow and to learn new information to know what he/she is doing in there. I can't wait till we have a third !!!!!!! God Bless all and all the bundles of joy :)

i also get real excited as the weeks go by..  my husband and i (no, i make him) read our mayo clinic : guide to a healthy pregnancy together weekly and i also check babycenter, parenting and parentingweekly.  i love checking different sites, as each are a little different.  this is my first pregnancy so i like learning as much as i can!  i mean, it's not like i can concentrate at work anyway!

  • michi125@xanga

YEAH!  i loved reading about what was growing/developing next!  i think ivillage sent me updates every week, and i also had the book like fantazygirl...'mayo clinic: guide to a healthy pregnancy' especially since it told you how big and everything.  next time around i'll have to take a peek at babycenter.

I did the babycenter.com emails too.  i loved them especially how it compared her size to fruits and veggies.  When I'd see that week's produce in the store, I'd think about my baby.  I printed out the updates to give to my hubby to get him more involved.  He marveled at all the things our baby could do like flips and whatnot.

  • JDNCL@xanga

I did more than one.. lol  and I loved them all too.  They were all different but said the same thing, (I say were.. I'm still preggo, but I'm at the end of it now) It's neat to be able to compare ur baby to different things u can actually see and feel every day.  I'll probably do it with number 2 also =)

I signed up for all those email updates and I loved every one of them.  Sometimes I miss them.  But I still get emaisl that talk about our daughter's development as she gets older.  Those are pretty fun too!

I have a baby-gaga.com ticker on my google homepage, and also my xanga header.   It gives me a chance to see the chance of the pregnancy progressing, and the things that are going on in my womb.  However, since there are only 4 months between the birth of my first daughter, and the conception of my second.  I don't have much time to think about this baby.  I go back and read my pregnancy journal from my daughter and realize that at this point in her pregnancy the baby seemed SO real to me.  But I am SO busy now, that I just can't seem to make it real this time around, even though I can feel the baby and the movements.  Yet this baby is WAY more real to my husband since he actually realizes now what a pregnancy produces.  Our first daughter wasn't real to him at all until he saw her come out!

So yeah, thats where we are!

I stuck up a baby-gaga ticker with the "funny" updates that pop up under it. The most that I'm doing differently this time around is having lots of belly pics. It's the first time I have had a digital camera during a pregnancy (my first one we got after I had my almost 4 yo) so for the first time I have lots of belly pics to compare side by side, which I find fun!

I was obsessed with things like that! I read

Your Pregnancy Week by Week, 6th Edition (Your Pregnancy Series)

religiously every week. I will probably do it with every baby.
    Because now I read

Your Baby's First Year: Week By Week (Your Pregnancy Series), Second Edition

    haha.

    I'm obsessed! I love it!
