Recipe: Horchata
by Mama LionI was going through random Xanga blogs and I found this horchata recipe:
Ingredients:
1 carton of organic vanilla rice milk
1 carton of organic almond milk
1 cinnamon stick, broken up into smaller pieces
sugar to tasteDirections:
- Pour about 2 cups of rice milk into a small pot, along with the cinnamon stick pieces and sugar.
- Bring to a boil, and simmer until you start smelling the aroma of cinnamon (doesn't take long at all).
- Pour into a pitcher, then add the rest of the rice milk and the almond milk.
- Serve immediately over ice, or chill in the refrigerator.
I love horchata as does hubby, so I decided to get the ingredients and make it:
1 carton of vanilla rice milk and 1 carton of almond milk:
I pounded one cinammon stick with my meat tenderizer to break it up into pieces:
I used (2) 1/3 cups of sugar:
Pour 2 cups of vanilla rice milk in a small pot, add sugar, and 1 cinnamon stick (broken into pieces) and boil. Simmer until you smell the aroma of the cinammon. Turn off heat and pour into strainer to get all the cinammon stick remnants out of the milk. Pour into pitcher and add the rest of the milk(s) and you get the final product:
Serve in a tall glass filled with ice and enjoy! Muy delicioso!!

Oh, you people!!
That is a fake recipe, horchata is NOT made in that way with those ingredientes, horchata is much more than that. It can not be compared with this recipe. Call it whatever you want but NOT horchata. You should stay in Mexico to know the authentic recipe
You dumies!
