You Want a What Cake?
by Mama TurtleA Link cake of course! In an effort to do something special, mama got the pop art wheels a crankin' in her brain and came up with this.

Almost done! I did it free hand: 5 butter knives, melted Hershey's chocolate, Pillsbury whipped vanilla cream frosting in 4 different colors. Pretty off the cuff, though I forgot his little elf-shaped ear.
The hat side. I actually had the hardest time getting that shade of green!
Happy Birthday time! Link must have been messing around with those fire arrows too much.
Made the wish!
Time honored tradition of licking off the candles.
Nooooooooooo!
Link's Lobotomy

Got milk!
Sugar'ed up kids
What's the coolest birthday cake you've ever made?

Very cute. I totally would love a cake like that. But most likely would prefer either a Kyogre or Absol (Pokemon) cake.
Wow, that is an awesome looking cake!
I love creative cakes like this....but I really suck at making them....yours looks awesome!
I've only ever made one, my rock 'n' roll baby is 14 months old - it was greenish (the color turned out all wrong) and had a little frog face on it. And his name and "happy b-day" on it in huge letters. It was the ugliest cake I've ever seen, but he loved it
At least it tasted good, though - it was a red velvet cake (chocolate) without the red colorant...
wow... will u adopt me?
whoa. You're mother earth and betty crocker all rolled into one. If you amaze us with one more astonishing feat I think I'm going to have to just hurl.
Just kidding. You're inspiring!!!!
Cute kids!!!
Actually, I am in the throws of trying to determine WHAT kind of cake to make in August. Do I do cupcakes, do I do a single cake, do I do a small cake for the birthday girl and a big cake for the guests? AUGHHH!! So many decisions. So we'll see how it turns out.
That is an awesome cake :)
LOL i made a HUGE castle cake for my sons 2nd? birthday, oh wait it was his 1st! LOL his 2nd i made a cat cake (painted on over that white iceing ya get already made roll it out and wak it on the cake) the castle cake was a BUNDT mould of a castle i had use 2 or 3 times, and then used big rectangular tins for more cake (yeh we were eating cake for a week or more! LOL) and i cut and added to it, it looke dvery impressive all 3 d! I never made another one that big though! LOL
oh my gosh that is SO CUTE!!!! i love that video game and it looks just like the character!!!! great job :)
Awesome cake! My boyfriend (and secretly myself) would love to have that cake..
wow - i am extremely impressed! question: do you do this as a career, because you should!
Love the cake! I love making special cakes, my two favs have been Pooh and my latest, light house with sharks...
My hubby would love that cake! Is it bad that he's almost 26? LOL
haha that's awesome! the hubby and I made a triple layered cake for my mom..just with white cake and raspberry filling. it was fun!
Oh man, this brings back memories... My mom has always made up special cakes for birthdays, as long as I can remember. At first they were just things like bunnies and teddy bears. Then as we got older she got more creative. She's made Hello Kitty for my sister, a kangaroo for the school mascot fo my step-sister's college when she graduated... she even made an amoeba-shaped cake for me once when I was taking an exceptionally difficult bio class in college.
I hope to one day be as creative with my birthday cakes for little D.
What a masterpiece! Likely one of the most impressive cakes I've ever seen. My mom is a fantastic baker, one of the best I know, but her's were never this well decorated. I love it :)
Wind Waker link was a good choice.
W-O-W! That brings me back... WAAAY back.
Did you know that for halloween when I was maybe nine or ten years old, my Mother made me a Link costume? That was around 1989 or 1990! Now, eighteen or so years later, Moms are still making Link-related things for their kiddies. How nostalgic. We still have the link hat, somewhere around, that Mom had me wear- she put a little fishing weight in the very top of it so that it would 'dangle' a little (otherwise the fabric was naturally so light, it stood up... which did not look very 'Link-like' especially according to the original Link look). Of course, Wind-waker Link (which seems to be the one you are doing there) has a much more Asian/anime look to him.
You are so incredibly talented! I am really, deeply impressed. I may to sing well and write well (the singing, acting, and funny voices at least my son can appreciate- not the writing, yet) but I will never have the arts and crafts talent my Mom did. Though perhaps my Wife can make up for that a bit.
Tell your son that I bet he would -really- have preferred a cake with Princess Zeeee-eeelda on it. *makes teasing kissy sounds* :P

I did Bristol Motor Speedway at night, arranging the candles as the lights for the track, for my father one year. The hardest part was taking a 1:144 scale car of his least favorite driver and trying to destroy it.. Man they make those to last!!
Actually, I did a lot of NASCAR cakes for him that were cool.
