I Need New Clothes!
by Mama LionSince I'm home like 90% of the time, I'm always wearing house clothes so I never really realized how I'm in desperate need of new going out clothes. I tried on all my jeans recently to discover that they have all shrunk! They could be small maybe because I haven't lost all of my baby weight yet, but when I wore them like 2 month after my pregnancy they fit just fine so I'm wondering if they just shrunk. I'm also convinced that they shrunk because they're shorter! How in the world did I shrink them when I've been washing them the same way all the time? WEIRD. I mean they all fit, but I just hate the fact that they're so short and the only way I can wear them is with flat shoes and I hate wearing jeans with flat shoes. So I'm thinking of selling them on Ebay and getting new jeans. I wonder if anyone would buy them especially since they're hemmed to fit my 5'2-ish frame.
I don't know, I guess it works out since I like the newer style of True Religion jeans anyways. They're not as low cut, so I don't have to worry about accidentally showing some crack when I bend over. OMG. I think becoming a mommy has definitely made me more conservative! I also tried on some summery dresses I had and man are they SHORT! I can't believe I used to wear things that short. Yah, it's official...I've officially become an old lady *sighs* Oh, and I also noticed that I've been leaning more towards the toned down, conservative colors like navy blue, black, brown, and white instead of the more brighter colors like green and pink. Oh no!!! What is a world without pink?!!? *faints*
Anyways, I need to clean out my closet, get rid of the old, and go out and buy me a new wardrobe. What stores do you ladies love to shop at for casual, comfortable, and cute clothes? Which brands do you love??

I don't worry about brands. Plus I am switching my whole wardrobe to wearing all Shalwar Kameez
I generally don't wear name brand stuff, and since the shops I shop at are in South Africa, you wouldn't have even heard of any of them anyway - LOL! Enjoy the cleaning out and shopping!
I had the same issue after I had my daughter ... I swear I've grown wider, though I look the same. I shop at Old Navy, but their new jeans line doesn't fit me as well anymore. Secret: I still buy my t-shirts at Motherhood Maternity because they're longer haha.
Zara and Mng by Mango are my favorite stores.
I'll always prefer lower-rise pants as opposed to anything that comes all the way up to my waist, but yeah definitely since becoming a mom I can already tell I'll need a bit more back coverage than I had before... ; )
My current favorite jeans (that I just started fitting back into 2 weeks ago!) are a pair from Gap (I've tried to go back since buying them and get another pair, but even the same exact style didn't fit the same) and Lucky brand. I may justify going with more pricey jeans when I go shopping in the states in a couple weeks... have always kinda wanted to try Sevens.
Otherwise, most of my clothes are more thrifty, coming from stores like Target and Old Navy, occasionally purchases from places like Express and Gap.
Yeah I used to wear kind of skimpy clothes and when I first got pregnant and could no longer wear my favorite jeans that made my butt look good, I was REALLY sad. Funny though, I used to wear boring clothes and now I'm wearing brighter clothes, it's awesome. I love my new bigger body!
This sounds so old lady -ish too, but I like JC Penny's. It's not the only place I go, but that's the place that comes to mind at the moment. Oh, I also like NY & Co.
Places like Marshalls, Ross, and TJ Maxx are great for finding name brands and a good cost... also I've recently gone shopping at Goodwill after a tip from a friend... half of the baby clothes still have the price tags on them and they only cost $1.60 for an outfit!!! I went to one of the Goodwill stores in a very nice area of town where the wealthy drop off stuff for tax credits... so that's why so much stuff is still new!
I have the shrinking jeans problem... and you know... i haven't even had kids! I think I just have a mean dryer.
I had a hard time finding anything that fit after I had ds and became a motherly shape!! Switching from my trendy teen years clothes to classy motherhood clothes have been hard! I like to look my age, not 50...and I find it hard to find clothes that fit that don't do that!! Some of my favorite shopping spots are www.backeastbasics.com, and www.forever21.com
I'm a plus sized girl, so for me my options are quite limited. In order to get anything that fits right with the right sizing, I've got to go to Lane Bryant. Target is alright, but their sizing is small, so it makes you feel bigger than what you are..but their clearance racks are nice. Something to watch out for with anywhere are the shirts that make you look preggo...you know, the ones that tie in the back that have the princess cut to them...yeah, that's the style right now...not one that's appreciated by those who don't want to look preggo anymore.
You can't beat Old Navy for price and fit. I just love everything about it. I shop a lot online because of deals, convenience, and I know their clothes are going to fit me. If they don't, I can always take them back to the store without having to worry about shipping the clothes back.
I also shop at a local discount store called Name Brand Clothing. Love it or leave it, you might have to make some repairs on most of the items. But I get stuff there no one else will have and it's dirt cheap!
I don't do brands, I personally could care less. I do the one and only TARGET! or, as I like to call it....Tarjet...that's french, haha.
I did get to treat myself to a bunch of new maternity clothes that are trendy and cute (a far cry from what was available when I was first pregnant almost 10 years ago!) as I had given all of my old stuff away. After the baby I'll probably wait around a year or so before I invest in a bunch of good and flattering things to wear, depending on when most of the baby weight is gone, really.
My personal favorite store is Kohl's. The always have stuff on clearance. If you have the time to look, you can find really good deals. (I needed a new pair of black pants for a funeral, so I was somewhat stuck. I was lucky enough to find a pair on the clearance rack - only $3.75!!) The other thing I like about Kohl's is if you have their credit card, you get discounts, I think, 12 times a year. There are times when you can get an extra 30% off everything, including clearance!!
I also like JCPenney's. I have found their clothes to be good quality for a decent price.
If ever need new t-shirts, wal-mart is always a winner. I have found that I can wear the boys extra large t-shirts. They are great when you need something, but dont want to worry about ruining it if something gets on it. They are really cheap!
As for the shrinking clothes, I have noticed it too. The styles have changed - longer is in. A few years ago the in thing was shorter. So even if they havent changed size they seem shorter now!

I used to wear clothing from like Body shop and Charlotte Russe and when my husband and I were going on a marriage retreat to Panama City Beach we were clothes shopping. I needed some nicer light weight clothes to wear to all the classes and events. I cried walking out of Charlotte Russe. The size lower than mine was too small, the size above mine was too big and thats all they had (odd numbers). All the shirts had see thru material on the belly. I don't show my belly cause I don't want to look at it why would anyone else? I usually have to wear cammies under most t-shirts anyways just to give me the length.Those are getting hard enough to find the longer cammies. I got skinner after my first to the point people thought I was sick. I got wider momma birthin' hips after my second and I tease she didn't even come out that way! I gained 50 lbs my first pregnancy and only 30 during my second so how did that work? LOL
I'm in Europe, and I love H&M. I've been to H&M in D.C. once, and it was TINY compared to the European ones! The sizing was different, too - here, I can barely fit into a size 14, due to mommy boobies, and in the States, a shirt size 12 was roomy... go figure! Until recently, a European size 14 (= 44) was only found in the plus-size section, so there was limited choice, but H&M have finally figured out that women in that size can still be shapely, and they now make the "normal" clothes in that size, too. Yay!
Longer shirts are definitely the trend now, thank goodness... I've got a mommy-zebra-striped-belly to go with the mommy boobies... yikes! So I need the coverage. I can't wear heels anymore (SI-joint stuff going on) so I actually need shorter pants now than I did when I wore heels all the time.
Oh, and the "you-look-preggo-shirts" are SOOOOO last season, people! Thank goodness for that, too.... The bigger your boobies, the more preggo you'd look in those. Horrible!
