I don't know about where you live, but hairbows are a MUST for little girls here. I've found that it's even a little bit scary how important they are for some people to have for their little girl.
My daughter has a bow for nearly every outfit she has in her closet, plus every color in every shade of the rainbow in solids. This is NOT because I feel she has to keep up with the trend. I make them so she's a walking billboard.
I worked for a couple boutiques in my area and learned specific techniques that have allowed me to make ones that do not pull apart or go flat. I recently decided to share some of these things with the world, and I started selling my work on Etsy. Many of the "bow outlets" you find will charge way too much, and people are perfectly willing to pay because it's a quality product. I just wish more people knew about what I offer - I buy ribbon at wholesale and on sale so I can offer my bows to others for much cheaper. You can visit my store at http://designsbysummer.etsy.com if you'd like to peek!
In addition to bows, I also make headbands:
I also sell my bow instructions on CD-ROM. Videos accompany the written instructions with step-by-step photos explaining in detail what to do.
Making bows this way is very time-consuming, and the materials required can be a bit cluttering. You can purchase bows pre-made or learn to make them yourself. I'd be glad to share!
Do you like to accessorize your little girl's hair? Anyone else make their own hairbows?
