Inflatable Bathtub
by Mama KoalaI was inspired to write this after reading Mama Platypus' tips on baby bathtubs. We actually have that $18 blue one she recommended, and it was great until Baby Koala started crawling and hated sitting still. A few moms recommended the big tub, but I didn't think she was ready. I could imagine her slipping and hitting her head on the side... it just wasn't a pretty thought.
A friend told me about One Step Ahead, a website that sells a good number of useful, unique baby items that are sometimes hard to find in stores. I ordered this because it was the biggest inflatable bathtub I could find:

We've used it 4 times a week since last October, and I haven't had to blow more air into it yet. It's bulky but fairly easy to clean, and it comes with a suction cup at one end that you can use to attach it to the tiles to dry (and store!). Most importantly, Baby Koala loves it and it's really made her bathtime more enjoyable for all of us. The only thing is, it's really wide, so you should measure your tub before ordering it - it barely fits into our average sized tub.Good news if your tub's smaller than 23" in width - there's another option and it's cheaper too:
I've seen this in person and it is a bit smaller than the one we have, but it functions the same and it got 5 stars from 68 customers on Walmart.com! These inflatable tubs serve as a great middle step on the path to the big, scary tub (sometimes more scary for mom than for baby). It's so much easier to fill than a regular tub, which also means less hot water used (and lower utility bills, yay!). Man, I'm not looking forward to retiring this one yet... When did you transition your baby to the big tub?

I have a registry with onestepahead.com. I really love how many cool things they have on their site and in their magazines that u don't find in 'normal' stores like Wal*Mart and Target and such. I think those bathtubs are really neat, I actually have one on my registry!
Those inflatable tubs are pretty cool!
We used the simple, typical newborn tub (you have it pictured a couple posts below) and then slowly but surely got Zach used to the big boy tub. I don't really remember the whole transition process but, we had him in the tub with us (my husband or myself) until he was completely comfortable in the tub alone... Worked for us!
Now he's a complete water BUG!
my little girl switched from the baby tub to the big tub when I couldnt keep her from standing up holding onto the edge anymore....or about 8 or 9 months I do believe. It's a lot more stressful to have her in the big, slippery tub but she loves it and its easier to keep her sitting down.
adam wa sneverin a baby tub. I never liked them y husband wants to use one since he's never washed a new born. I tired my friends tub for kids ikethat with adam he kept trying to climb out. it was making me crazy so he is still in the big tub lol
i am glad ur little on likes it
i actually just recommended the tub we use to mama platypus..the primo euro bath tub. i love it and i wish i had gotten it from the get go since the tub we originally had broke and since our baby became too big for it. it has these great positioners for infants and babies when they are able to sit up on their own. it's pretty big...looks even big enough for a toddler and fits in my tub just fine =) but this inflatable one looks good too and would be great to take when traveling since it deflates.
